Job Description

Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of products by examining materials for surface defects, verifying dimensions, and rejecting defective parts. You will interpret engineering drawings, select products for testing, and perform mechanical and analytical testing using diagnostic equipment. Familiarity with ASTM Standards and strong mechanical inspection techniques are crucial. You will also maintain and update the Document Control System and ensure effective communication with both the team and suppliers. Responsibilities + Examine material or product for surface defects. + Verify specified dimensions of product or material. + Reject defective parts and mark defects on parts, containers, or inspection tags. + Interpret engineering drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing diagrams. + Select products for tests at specified stages in the production process. + Perform mechanical and analytical testing. + Operate diagnostic equipment needed for the job. + Perform calibrations on all gauges and measuring devices, including environmental. + Conduct receiving inspections and testing. + Maintain and update the Document Control System if assigned. + Communicate information from customer scorecards to the team and suppliers. + Audit suppliers to standards and complete supplier scorecards. + Direct day-to-day activities of Quality Inspector/Technician direct reports. + Handle supervisory responsibilities for direct reports, including timecards and disciplinary actions. + Serve as deputy for the Quality Manager as required and assigned for all Quality-related responsibilities. Essential Skills + 8+ years of quality management experience. + Knowledge of IATF standards. + Root cause analysis expertise. + Experience in the automotive industry with a background in quality engineering. + Proficiency in using an optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine, and various gauging techniques. + Understanding of statistical techniques such as SPC and capability studies. + Ability to perform PPAP and PFMEA. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Familiarity with AIAG tools. + Bachelor's degree preferred. + Ability to mentor Quality Engineers. + Experience in plastic and rubber industries. Work Environment The facility has recently come under new management and is part of a global automotive supplier network. The role involves working with various diagnostic and measurement equipment in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be expected to follow established instructions and contribute to continuous improvement activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Russell Springs, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr.
