Overview Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Transmission Planning, this position is responsible for performing transmission planning studies, transmission system project initiation, scoping, and support, NERC, NPCC, ISO-New England and other compliance or regulatory activities, participating in industry task forces and committees, and other activities pertaining to the long term planning of the New England transmission system. Responsibilities 1. Perform Transmission Planning Studies using PSSE,TARA, and ASPEN 2. Provide insight and direction for scoping and support of transmission projects. 3. Engage stakeholders in internal, cross departmental, and external organizations 4. Complete requirements associated with various regulatory groups including NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE. Additional General Responsibilities: u2022Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods. u2022Performs engineering assignments associated with the design, construction, performance enhancement, cost effectiveness, operation, and maintenance of various plant equipment and systems. u2022Coordinates activities of Engineers, technicians, or others assigned to specific projects as necessary. u2022Work assignments are varied and somewhat difficult. u2022Performs assignments in which evaluation, originality, ingenuity, decision-making, and authority. u2022Supports various plant operations and maintenance groups with engineering based problem troubleshooting, identification, analysis, and resolution. u2022Assists Engineer III and/or Senior Engineers with large and/or complex projects, as required. u2022Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures. u2022Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place. u2022Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations. u2022Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness. u2022Directs the activities of coops, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc. u2022Performs other duties as assigned u2022Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications Engineer I: - ABET Accredited bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or engineering technology. Engineer II: - ABET Accredited bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 2 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will also be counted as engineering experience. Engineer III: - ABET Accredited bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 5 years of engineering experience, or a masteru2019s degree in engineering plus 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 2 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will also be counted as engineering experience. Principal Engineer: - ABET Accredited bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 10 years of engineering experience, or a masteru2019s degree in engineering plus 8 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 7 years of engineering experience. Utility system operator experience will be counted as engineering experience for this position. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience working with Regional Transmission Organizations, preferably ISO-NE or PJM 2. Experience with the following programs: PSSE, TARA, PSCAD, CAPE,ASPEN 3. Experience with Python programming language 4. A bacheloru2019s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred but not specifically required. Engineer I: - ABET Accredited bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or engineering technology. Engineer II: - ABET Accredited bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 2 years of engineering experience.
