University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Dentistry Salary Range or Pay Grade $125,000 - $160,000 Description Rochester u2013 New York: The Division of Special Needs Dentistry of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking to hire a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, to assume the role of the Director for the Golisano Specialty Care dental clinic. Responsibilities include management of day-to-day operations of this clinic, clinical care, teaching, supervising clinical care, scholarly activity, research, and other activities as necessary or required. Reports to: Chair, Special Needs Dentistry Administrative: lead the faculty and staff of the Specialty Care clinic in day-to-day operations, contributing to the recruitment of staff, budgeting, policies, and project planning, while representing the clinic in EIOH leadership meetings and forums, and participating in EIOH committees as needed. Clinical: oversee clinical operations, supervise residents delivering clinical care, and deliver direct patient care to patients with complex medical conditions and with intellectual and physical disabilities, insuring patients receive individualized compassionate care, fostering collaboration between dental providers, patients, and their caregivers to optimize patient outcomes. Teaching and Research: promote direct and enhanced educational experiences in special care dentistry for fellows, residents, and specialty trainees. Teach postgraduate course curriculum as needed, mentor residents, and engage in clinical research. Develop and oversee educational programs in special care dentistry. Promote competency in treating geriatric patients, patients with I/DD and complex medical conditions. Support faculty development and mentorship in special needs dentistry. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: partner with the University of Rochester Medical Center and affiliated programs to integrate oral health into comprehensive care models. Collaborate with providers in pediatrics, internal medicine, behavioral health, and rehabilitation services. Support integration with interdisciplinary programs such as complex care and transitional care clinics. Community Engagement & Advocacy: promote access to care for underserved and vulnerable populations. Build partnerships with community organizations, caregivers, and advocacy groups. Serve as an advocate for individuals with special health care needs at local, regional, and national levels. Program Development & Operations: participate in growth and strategic direction of the Special Needs Dentistry Clinic. Develop and implement policies, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives. Monitor clinic performance, including patient access, finances, outcomes, and satisfaction. Ensure compliance with regulatory, institutional, and accreditation standards. Qualifications DDS, DMD or equivalent degree from an accredited dental school. If practicing in a specialty field, board examination may be required. Post-doctoral residency in Oral Surgery preferred, or experiential equivalent in hospital-based dentistry or post-doctoral degree. Minimum 5 years in hospital-based (or affiliate) practice. NYS license, registration, and DEA registration. Must be credentialed with approved DOP per medical staff guidelines. Skills as delineated in credentials and DOP. Post-offer health assessment is required.
