Description The Plant Engineer II or III supports HVAC, utility, and facility infrastructure systems at a manufacturing site. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable, compliant plant systems while supporting capital projects, construction activities, and continuous improvement initiatives in a regulated manufacturing environment. This position works closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, quality, and external contractors to ensure HVAC and utility systems operate safely, efficiently, and in a state of control. The level (II or III) will be determined based on experience and demonstrated capability. Responsibilities: Support the design, operation, troubleshooting, and improvement of HVAC and utility systems including air handling, dust collection, chilled water, hot water, steam, compressed air, nitrogen, purified water, and energy systems Provide engineering support for facility maintenance activities and system upgrades Support or manage capital and construction projects including scope development, drawing reviews, contractor coordination, commissioning, and turnover Maintain system documentation, asu2011built drawings, and engineering records to ensure compliance and audit readiness Partner with internal teams and external vendors to resolve system performance, reliability, and compliance issues Monitor HVAC and utility systems to ensure compliance with site standards, codes, and regulatory requirements Participate in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives Support energy management and sustainability initiatives Provide onu2011site engineering support with occasional onu2011call responsibilities Participate in limited travel for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), typically only a few weeks per year Level Differentiation: Plant Engineer II Supports HVAC and utility systems and contributes to capital projects under guidance of senior engineers Assists with troubleshooting, documentation, and maintenance improvements Participates as a project team member on facility and utility upgrades Develops technical depth and regulatory understanding within a regulated manufacturing environment Plant Engineer III Owns HVAC, utility, and infrastructure systems and serves as a technical subject matter expert Leads midu2011 to highu2011complexity capital and construction projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget Provides technical direction to contractors, consultants, and crossu2011functional teams Supports inspections and defends system design, operation, and compliance to regulatory agencies Contributes to site master planning and longu2011term infrastructure strategy Skills Hvac, Production, Process improvement, Lean manufacturing, Preventive maintenance, Continuous improvement, autocad, utilities engineering, capital project, Manufacturing engineering, commissioning, regulated environment, gmp environment, pharmaceutical Top Skills Details Hvac,Production,Process improvement,Lean manufacturing,Preventive maintenance,Continuous improvement,autocad,utilities engineering,capital project,Manufacturing engineering Additional Skills & Qualifications Pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, or food manufacturing experience preferred Understanding of regulated manufacturing environments and documentation practices Experience with commissioning, qualification, or regulated inspections Energy management or sustainability experience is a plus Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $50.48/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
