Sr. Network Engineer

Job Title: Sr. Network Engineer Job Location- Remote, USA _Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future_ We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to serve as a technical contributor and subject matter expert for enterprise application delivery and security platforms. This role focuses on the engineering, operation, and security of load balancers, web application firewalls (WAF), and edge/CDN technologies across onu2011premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will combine deep handsu2011on technical expertise with strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and communication skills to ensure high availability, performance, and security of missionu2011critical applications. In this role, you will + Serve as a technical subject matter expert for application delivery and security platforms, including load balancers, WAF, and CDN technologies. + Perform handsu2011on engineering, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of application delivery and security solutions across onu2011prem and cloud environments. + Collaborate with network, security, cloud, and application teams to ensure alignment, continuity, and effective crossu2011team communication. + Participate in capacity planning, forecasting, and architectural decisions to support scalable and resilient application delivery. + Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and application issues across OSI layers 1u20137, providing clear and timely status updates to stakeholders. + Apply risku2011based decisionu2011making to protect proprietary, personal, and privileged data, ensuring strong application and network security controls. + Implement and maintain network and application security best practices, including WAF/load balancer configurations, change controls, monitoring, and documentation. + Support security audits and compliance activities by providing technical input, evidence, documentation, and remediation support. + Participate in a rotational onu2011call schedule, responding to highu2011priority incidents within defined SLAs and supporting offu2011hours change windows as required. What youu2019ll need to succeed (required skills) + Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. + 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining application delivery controllers such as: + F5 (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM/AWAF, SSLO) + A10, AVI, Citrix, or similar load balancer and WAF platforms + 2+ years of experience supporting cloudu2011native applications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). + Experience securing applications using CDN and edge security platforms. Technical Knowledge + Strong understanding of: + HTTP/HTTPS and application traffic flows + SSL/TLS encryption, certificates, and key management + DNS, TCP/IP, switching, and routing concepts + Application security principles and controls + Solid knowledge of OWASP Top 10 threats and mitigation techniques. + Working knowledge of scripting or automation techniques to support operational efficiency. Preferred skills: what will help you stand out + Handsu2011on experience with: + F5 LTM, GTM (DNS), ASM/AWAF, SSLO + A10 and AVI load balancers + Shape Bot Protection + Cloud providersu2019 native networking and security consoles (AWS, Azure, GCP) + CDN and edge platforms such as Cloudflare, Akamai, and F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) + Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a securityu2011first mindset. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly. Working Conditions (MANDATORY) + Onu2011call rotation approximately one week every four weeks. + Occasional afteru2011hours, night, or weekend work during scheduled maintenance or emergency situations. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $75,000 to $90,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizantu2019s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizantu2019s applicable plans.
