Cnc Machine Operator

Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description The candidate will operate various machines in a steel fabrication environment, both indoors and outdoors. The facility includes small sheds housing machines such as plasma cutters, high-speed saws, and drills for punching holes in steel plates and beams. Responsibilities + Operate multiple machines assigned during the night shift. + Navigate CNC control panels and understand computer usage. + Read and utilize a tape measure proficiently. + Push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs, and maneuver overhead cranes. + Handle products weighing several thousand pounds. + Contribute to meeting production goals and work with large steel products. Essential Skills + Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with CNC machines. + Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine safety. + Ability to read a tape measure and pass a tape measure test. + Familiarity with large product handling and production goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 2-3 years of experience in construction or manufacturing in a mechanical role. + Experience with manual or CNC machine operation, laser, burner, burn table, troubleshooting, and use of hand and power tools. + Experience with laser operation, plasma cutting, and cutting tools. + High school education or equivalent. Work Environment The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, with operations conducted in large dirt and gravel lots. The facility operates Monday through Thursday from 5 PM to 5 AM, with an overtime requirement on Fridays from 5 PM to 3 AM. Expect to work in open-air sheds that house part of the steel products as they pass through saws or lasers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Emporia, VA.
