As One ( Join the MercyOne Family We are looking to hire a Clinic Lab Technician. + Proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. + Utilizes use of the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests. + Educates patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum. + Reviews orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call providers' offices to obtain orders. + Processes specimens in the appropriate way, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability. + Readies specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing the required paperwork for transfer and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported in a timely manner, including calling a STAT courier and completing the necessary paperwork for the transfer. + Performs both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serologiy areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT. + Keeps accurate records, such as temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing and daily, weekly and monthly maintenance. + Works together as a team in a fast paced environment to care for our patients while demonstrating Genesis Health System's standards of behavior. Schedule: + 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; rotating weekends and holidays. General Requirements: + Medical Assistant, Certified Phlebotomist or other healthcare studies preferred. + Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly. + Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. + Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health and MercyOne. Education: + High school diploma or GED required. + Additional course work up to 1 year in healthcare studies.
