JOB REQUIREMENTS: Current Employees: If you are currently employed atany of the Universities of Wisconsin, log in to Jobs Hub to applythrough the internal application process.Job Category:FacultyEmploymentType:RegularJob Profile:Assistant ProfessorJob Summary: The Departmentof Entomology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison is seeking tofill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Extension Fruit CropEntomology to provide leadership in developing outreach and research toaddress the needs of stakeholders and improve management of Wisconsin'sfruit crops (i.e., apple, cranberry, grape, small fruits/berries).Wisconsin's fruit crops contribute significantly to the state'seconomy. Cranberry is the largest of the fruit-crop industries, withnearly $1 billion in annual economic activity and over 4K jobsstatewide. Given that Wisconsin is an agriculturally and ecologicallydiverse state, an integrative approach to Extension and applied researchis needed in this position, including the integrated pest management offruit crop entomological pests as well as the development of novel andinnovative approaches in pest suppression. A successful candidate willbe expected to develop and lead a regionally and nationally recognizedExtension program supported by a strong applied-research program in thearea of sustainable, fruit crop management emphasizing integrated pestmanagement of pest species. The candidate will conduct applied and basicresearch that will inform crop and pest management recommendations andsupport fruit Extension and educational needs throughout the state.Outcomes of these efforts are intended to build resiliency and overallsustainability of fruit crop production and surrounding agroecosystems.Recommendations will be conveyed through extension and outreach avenuessuch as websites, social media, field days, grower meetings, and theWisconsin Fruit newsletter.
