The college actively promotes a dynamic and inclusive environment in which students and employees of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives can learn and work.Job SummaryProvide a variety of support to the Geology department faculty, staff and students.This job posting is for one open position that will start in Block 8 (April 20th-May13th).Responsibilitiesu2022 Assist in Introductory Geology and some advanced laboratories; set-up of classes and labs.u2022 Coordinate field-trip logistics; assist with field-trip instruction; driving vans; ordering supplies and some photocopying.u2022 Provide one-on-one tutoring of students and a resource for questions; grading tests, laboratory, and homework papers.u2022 Perform various ongoing departmental projects such as organizing and maintaining rock, mineral, map, and fossil collections; preparing thin and polished sections and specimens; general departmental maintenance and handy work.u2022 Support and actively contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity, inclusion and equity at Colorado College and work effectively with all members of the campus community.u2022 Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.u2022 Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the college's sustainability initiatives and innovation.u2022 Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualificationsu2022 Bachelor's degree with a major in Geology or a closely related field.u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College's motor vehicle insurance carrier.Preferred Qualificationsu2022 Experience with the Block Plan and familiarity with local geology.Applicants are welcome to apply even if you do not meet the preferred qualifications.
