The Diagnostic Imaging APRN or Physician Assistant delivers high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic patient care under the direct supervision of a physician. This role supports patients before, during, and after diagnostic and interventional radiologic procedures across inpatient and outpatient settings. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage urgent patient care situations in a fast-paced environment. Ideal Candidate Demonstrated interest in radiology and diagnostic imaging Experience managing patients in acute or urgent care settings APRN candidates must hold certification as Family/Individual Across the Lifespan Schedule & Coverage Schedule: Monday-Friday Workdays: Four 10.5-11-hour shifts per week Coverage Area: Regional coverage of Northwest and Woodlands / Houston Area Locations (HALs), with intermittent cross-coverage for all Diagnostic Imaging locations Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Management Respond promptly to emergencies occurring within Diagnostic Imaging, including but not limited to falls, respiratory distress, allergic or contrast reactions, seizures, glycemic events, port extravasation, and incidental cord compression. Perform focused patient interviews and physical examinations, initiate treatment when appropriate, and determine patient disposition. Manage post-procedure and post-imaging care for both inpatients and outpatients, coordinating follow-up with primary services as needed. Conduct pre-procedure assessments including sedation evaluations, ASA classification, airway assessment, ECOG scoring, and medication reconciliation. Order and interpret relevant laboratory and diagnostic studies; prescribe medications and write orders within scope of practice and institutional policy. Develop and execute care plans addressing periprocedural issues such as anticoagulation, transfusions, contrast administration, laboratory abnormalities, and pain management. Triage patients and diagnostic imaging cases appropriately to ensure timely and effective care. Clinical Operations Perform consultations, follow-up visits, and comprehensive history and physical examinations related to diagnostic imaging procedures and therapies. Provide care within multiple subspecialties including Nuclear Medicine, Neuroradiology, and Breast Imaging. Assess and manage pre-procedure medical issues such as hemodynamic instability, electrolyte disturbances, and diabetes management, collaborating closely with Diagnostic Imaging physicians and primary care teams. Protocol imaging studies ordered by non-radiology providers to ensure appropriate, high-quality imaging. Documentation & Compliance Practice in accordance with E&M billing and compliance requirements. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation. Communicate clearly and effectively through written and verbal channels with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Research & Education Participate in clinical research protocols as assigned, including clinical and data collection activities and obtaining informed consent when delegated. Professional Practice & Collaboration Serve as an integral member of the multidisciplinary patient care team, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and consultation skills. Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals across backgrounds. EDUCATION Required: Master's Degree Accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required: PAC - Physician Assistant Certifica Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Upon Hire and Required: PA - Physician Assistant Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners Upon Hire and Required: MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
