The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) position is to provide clinical patient care across the continuum of the multidisciplinary team to achieve quality patient care as a member of the Palliative Care & Rehabilitation Medicine team. The ideal candidate will be a licensed APRN or PA, including new graduates, who demonstrates strong critical thinking skills to manage complex patient needs and coordinate care effectively. They are a proactive self starter with a genuine commitment to continuous learning, especially as new therapies and clinical innovations emerge. Prior experience in Oncology setting preferred. KEY FUNCTIONS: Conducts comprehensive symptom assessments using physical exam skills and assessment tools. Participates in developing treatment plans with the team physicians. Participates in the collection and patient data with appropriate documentation in the medical record. Uses organizational skills to assure continuity of care across the continuum in collaboration with other disciplines through planning, education and coordination of services. Provides education and support to patients and families, emphasizing the promotion of comfort and quality of life. Provides education to clinicians. EDUCATION Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Physician Assistant Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013. EXPERIENCE Preferred: At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
