Failure to fully understand and comply with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations may impact the banku2019s ability to execute on key strategic objectives. Key Relationships Internal Other employees in ERO and LRC, both in the U.S. and Canada Senior leaders in lines of business and corporate areas External Regulatory Attorneys at other financial institutions to further understand the regulatory landscape Key industry associations Knowledge and Skills + Law Degree + At least 5 yearsu2019 experience in financial services, ideally as a bank regulatory lawyer advising on core bank regulatory legal issues + Good knowledge of US financial services legislation and regulation, with a focus on bank regulatory matters and acquisitions + Good knowledge of US regulatory landscape and priorities Senior Counsel - Regulatory, Enterprise Regulatory Office The Enterprise Regulatory Office (u201cEROu201d), within Legal & Regulatory Compliance (u201cLRCu201d), supports the BMO enterprise and helps BMO meet both its regulatory obligations and its supervisorsu2019 expectations. ERO advises with respect to legal and regulatory matters, provides leadership and guidance with respect to regulatory interactions, provides advice and oversight regarding regulatory examinations and the remediation of supervisory findings, and reports to senior management and the board of directors on significant matters. The Senior Counsel - Regulatory, will support the Chief Regulatory Officer and the ERO in the United States. The role is a senior attorney in ERO that will provide bank regulatory advice to business lines and corporate functions across the enterprise, while working closely with other attorneys in LRC. ERO provides legal and regulatory advice on a broad range of U.S. federal banking laws and regulations u2013 including the Bank Holding Company Act, the International Banking Act, the Bank Merger Act, and various Federal Reserve regulations, including Regulations K, O, W, Y, and VV, among others. The Senior Counsel, Regulatory Attorney will provide analysis and advice with respect to acquisitions and divestitures, affiliate transactions, proposals for new or updated products, activities, or services, and corporate governance and structure. The role will be required to stay abreast of the current regulatory and supervisory environments and review, analyze, and summarize proposed legal and regulatory changes in an actively evolving regulatory environment. Key Accountabilities + Advise on all aspects of bank regulatory issues + Provide guidance and advice to lines of business and corporate areas regarding implications of applicable laws and regulations on business strategies and new products, services, and activities + Assist in regulatory notifications and/or applications related to bank reorganization, expansion, or acquisition activity + Ensure BMO stays abreast of proposed changes to banking laws and regulations, including analyzing, assessing, summarizing, and reporting with respect to proposed amendments and other related developments + Participate in and advise on the banku2019s advocacy efforts, focused on emerging supervisory and regulatory matters Salary: $132,600.00 - $247,000.00 Pay Type: Salaried The above represents BMO Financial Groupu2019s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groupu2019s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Groupu2019s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
