Sr. Hardware Design Engineer, LEO KMM FPGA

DescriptionAmazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Come work at Amazon As a Sr. Hardware Design Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to design innovative product solutions. You will work closely with colleagues throughout Leo's inter-disciplinary team in order to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and optimization. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for designing RF subsystems for use in space. Must be able to work effectively cross-functionally with multiple disciplines. In this role you will: u2022 Decompose system level requirements into realizable hardware requirements. u2022 Design and develop a solution that meets these requirements. u2022 Simulate and optimize RF circuits, perform schematic capture, and oversee PCB layout. u2022 Build up test bench for design verification. u2022 Evaluate and optimize design in the lab to demonstrate solution meets all requirements. u2022 Work with RF system, power, software, mechanical thermal, reliability and compliance teams to ensure solution integrates with overall platform requirements. Key job responsibilities u2022 Will work cross-functionally on collaboration to fluently engage with diverse engineering disciplines, effectively advocate for hardware system requirements, board bring up , pcba assembly, and ensure alignment for overall system success. u2022 Works closely with the production test team to define DVT, Qualification and production test requirements u2022 Develop, designs, and test of ASIC and subsystems and systems. u2022 Derive HW specifications for the KMM system u2022 Performs root cause analysis on products, technical problems, processes and documentation. u2022 Assess feasibility of various designs in support of architectural definition u2022 Participate in subsystem design and prototyping, schematic capture, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization u2022 Evaluate and characterize new technology, prototypes and RF components u2022 Support manufacturing engineers on production testing of RF avionics components and systems u2022 Evaluates systems and directs design modifications. u2022 Troubleshoots and repairs circuits and fixtures. Basic Qualifications- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures - Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability - Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout - 5+ years of experience in firmware integration with factory softwarePreferred Qualifications- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent - Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production - Experience with the project management of technical projects Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
