Description Position Summary Weu2019re looking for a motivated Entry-Level Controls Engineer to join our automation team and support the design, development, and implementation of industrial control systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a controls engineer to build hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA, and field commissioning while learning from experienced controls engineers. What Youu2019ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Support the design and development of control systems, including PLC/PAC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems under supervision. Assist with software unit testing, basic debugging, and simulation logic as needed. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities and help document results. Learn and follow company standards and applicable lifecycle practices (including CSIA-style development approach where applicable). Support instrumentation-related tasks (understanding common instrument types, scaling, and troubleshooting basics). Read and interpret P&IDs and apply ISA symbology/tagging conventions. Help prepare technical documentation such as device lists, I/O lists, functional descriptions, control schematics, submittals, and user manuals. Assist with control panel-related work: reviewing BOMs, layouts, hardware selection basics, and participating in schematic redlines/peer reviews with the electrical design team. Provide support to fabrication and checkout activities when needed, including panel quality checks and hardware FAT support. Support field activities such as installation/commissioning tasks and qualification steps (IQ/OQ/PQ) under guidance. Participate in troubleshooting and service support as needed (including occasional off-hours support depending on project demands). Manage tasks across multiple active projects, communicate status clearly, and meet milestone deadlines. Foundational understanding of electrical concepts and interest in PLC/automation work. Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and producing clear documentation. Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Exposure to Allen-Bradley / Rockwell tools such as RSLogix / Studio 5000 (or similar PLC platforms). Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms (ex: FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware, etc.). Familiarity with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, etc.). Any exposure to electrical drawings/panel design tools (ex: AutoCAD Electrical) and standards awareness (NEC/UL concepts).
