This job was posted by : For moreinformation, please see: Title: Maintenance TechnicianProject: Arizona 202 South Mountain FreewayLocation: Phoenix, ArizonaPosition SummaryResponsible for inspecting and maintaining contracted assets (roadways,medians, signs, guardrails, barrier walls, noise walls fences, bridges,lighting, vegetation, etc.) per standards and conditions specified inthe contract and as directed by the supervisor.ResponsibilitiesAn individual must be able to meet and maintain successful performanceof each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arethe representative knowledge, skill and/or ability required.- Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes,striping, adding or replacing reflectors.- Creates safe traffic control by setup and removal of traffic controldevices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.- Maintains clean appearance of highways and medians through litter anddebris removal and disposal (may use litter claw or other device).- Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains,etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools andequipment.- Controls vegetation appearance and growth through use of herbicideequipment, hand or power trimmers, and chemical sprayers and othermethods.- Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails,fence, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand orpower tools.- Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle pickuptrucks and specialized motor vehicles.- Required to be available for work rotations as needed for overtime,evenings, weekends, and holidays.- All other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMaintenance technicians should possess the ability to cooperate andcommunicate with co-workers and supervisor. Must be able to consistentlyfollow company and safety policies and procedures. Maintenancetechnicians should be able to perform basic math functions (add,subtract, multiply divide, calculate proportions, percentages,measurements). Must also be able to understand instructions furnished inwritten, oral, or diagram form.FLUOR O&M JOB DESCRIPTIONAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Familiarity withhand tools and power equipment preferred. Must be capable of working inan environment in which demands and priorities change rapidly. Abilityto speak and understand basic English.This position requires a highly developed sense of safety awareness andperceptive ability. You must have the ability to recognize hazardsinherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoidloss, injury or accident. You must be able to communicate withco-workers safety instructions. You must be able to think clearly andfocus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using toolsand equipment, and while driving or operating equipment. You will berequired to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to yourjob.Minimum Education and ExperienceFormal Education: HS Diploma or GED (Preferred)Work Experience: One year work experience in construction, roadmaintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or landscaping(outdoor work) (Preferred)Certifications and Licenses Valid drivers license and acceptable drivingrecord (Required) DOT certifications (Highly Desirable)
