Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting drawing changes, modifying Bill of Materials (BOM), and adding notes or other details to drawings. The role will eventually evolve into designing parts, determining necessary features and techniques, building prototypes, and focusing on metal fabrication, primarily with steel and some plastic components. The position involves significant testing, both of personal designs and assemblies, and requires troubleshooting either in the field or for manufacturing. Responsibilities + Make drawing changes and updates for existing products. + Support new drawing designs for existing products. + Provide hands-on support in building prototypes. + Engage in testing designs and assemblies to evaluate functionality. + Troubleshoot issues in the field or within manufacturing processes. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. + Proficiency in PLM and CAD software. + Experience in 3D solid modeling, preferably with Unigraphics NX. + Knowledge of sheet metal and metal fabrication design. + 4+ years of experience in mechanical design using Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter. + Hands-on experience in building prototypes and equipment commissioning. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Mechanical design or machine design experience is highly preferred. + Ability to interpret test results effectively. + NX and Teamcenter proficiency is highly preferred. Work Environment This position is on-site within the Research and Development department, following a standard 40-hour work week. Employees can expect 2 weeks of vacation, with the possibility of 3 weeks, depending on tenure. The role includes 6 holidays and there is a high likelihood of the assignment being extended by an additional 6 months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
