Summary The North Florida South Georgia ( Saint Mary's GA VA Clinic) VA Healthcare System's Mental Health Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse-Outpatient Mental Health. Our ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. Responsibilities This JOA has been Amended to remove EDRP and telework and to add compressed work schedule The RN MH incumbent demonstrates integration of biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills, and technically competent practice while providing care to clients. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Duties include but are not limited to: Provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with MH conditions. Facilitate warm hand-offs, health care, and nurse-led psychoeducational groups. Use therapeutic communication techniques, practice de-escalation techniques, utilize recovery-oriented language, and provide Veterans, their family members, and/or significant others with education regarding their illness, medications, and treatment plan. Provides acute and routine psychiatric assessment and intervention for a variety of psychosocial, SUD, and medical concerns and assists the in developing a recovery-based plan of care for the patient. Works directly with the SUD professionals, psychiatric, and clinical staff to support clinical treatment. Collaborates with patients, staff, and other care providers. Administer injectable medications and complete electrocardiograms (ECG) and other applicable psychosocial interventions. Actively participates in care coordination, liaising with Inpatient MH Units to facilitate continuity of care, MH interdisciplinary treatment team huddles and meetings and responds to psychiatric and medical emergencies as directed. (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs). Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation.
