Job Title: GCP Cloud Lead Job Location- Remote, USA _Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future_ We are seeking an experienced GCP Cloud Lead with strong DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) expertise to lead vulnerability remediation initiatives across containers, virtual machines, and cloud-native applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) . This role will provide technical leadership, hands-on execution, and cross-team coordination to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient cloud workloads. The GCP Cloud Lead will work closely with platform, security, and application teams to modernize base images, update dependencies, and drive remediation through automated CI/CD pipelines, while leveraging enterprise-approved AI-assisted tools to improve analysis speed, quality, and delivery velocity. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $114,000 to $129,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizantu2019s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizantu2019s applicable plans. In this role, you will Cloud & Security Leadership + Lead and oversee vulnerability triage and remediation activities across containers, VMs, and application dependencies in GCP environments. + Act as a technical authority on cloud security remediation strategies, best practices, and operational standards. + Partner with security teams to prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk, exploitability, and business impact. + Ensure remediation activities align with enterprise security policies, compliance requirements, and audit expectations. DevOps & Platform Engineering + Drive updates to operating systems, base container images, open-source libraries, and application dependencies. + Rebuild, validate, and deploy workloads using automated CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions . + Design and enforce standardized remediation and rebuild pipelines to enable repeatable, scalable delivery. + Lead troubleshooting efforts related to build failures, deployment issues, and runtime stability after patching. Google Cloud Platform Expertise + Operate and lead remediation efforts across core GCP services, including: + Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) + Compute Engine + Artifact Registry + Provide architectural guidance for secure containerized and VM-based workloads. + Mentor teams on GCP best practices related to performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency. AI-Assisted Engineering & Productivity + Leverage AI-assisted tools available through the Optum security dashboard , IDEs, GitHub, and enterprise GenAI platforms to accelerate vulnerability analysis, root cause identification, and remediation. + Promote best practices for responsible, secure, and effective use of AI tools across engineering teams. + Identify opportunities where AI can improve documentation quality, automation, and engineering throughput. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement + Collaborate closely with DevOps, SRE, application development, and platform teams to coordinate remediation activities. + Lead technical discussions, reviews, and decision-making sessions with cross-functional stakeholders. + Provide clear status updates, risk assessments, and remediation metrics to leadership and program stakeholders. + Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering skill development and cloud maturity across teams. What youu2019ll need to succeed (required skills) u00b7 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Software Engineering roles. u00b7 Strong, hands-on experience with: + Google Cloud Platform (GCP) + Kubernetes / GKE + Docker + Linux and Windows operating systems u00b7 Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins , GitHub Actions , or similar tools. u00b7 Hands-on expertise with dependency management and build tools such as npm , pip , Maven , and Gradle . u00b7 Solid understanding of container security, OS patching, and vulnerability management workflows. u00b7 Comfortable creating, reviewing, and managing GitHub pull requests . Required AI Skills All full-time resources are expected to demonstrate baseline proficiency in enterprise-approved AI tools as a regular part of their role. + Consistent Use: + Maintain a minimum of 90% weekly usage of approved AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and other sanctioned GenAI platforms. + Applied Productivity: + Effectively leverage AI tools to improve: + Coding efficiency and quality + Documentation and knowledge sharing + Data analysis and decision-making workflows + Continuous Learning: + Stay current with evolving AI capabilities and features. + Actively apply new AI-driven techniques to improve remediation speed, quality, and delivery velocity.
