Are you a graphic design student looking to build your portfolio and network while gaining real-world experience in print, social media and web graphics, and video?u00a0Weu2019reu00a0an in-house communications team looking for a talented and knowledgeable designer with fresh, creative ideas and an excellent eye for detail.u00a0 At the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA), we serve as stewards of Massachusetts health data, employing multifaceted datasets andu00a0cutting-edgeu00a0analytics to ensure transparency in our health care system. Our work directlyu00a0impactsu00a0the health care system in theu00a0Commonwealth, supporting the development of data-driven policies that aim to improve the quality and equity of care while keeping costs affordable for Massachusetts families.u00a0 We foster a flexible, collaborative environment; our hybrid approach allows you to work alongside your colleagues in our vibrant Boston office for at least two designated days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on others.u00a0 Join us at CHIA and be a driving force in health policy impact through compelling visual design We seek a Graphic Design Intern to concept, design, and produce internal- and external-facing campaigns within our Communications and External Affairs team. This part-time position is 20 hours per week through at least August, and the expected hourly rate isu00a0$22 - $27/hour.u00a0 As the Graphic Design Intern at CHIA, you will have the opportunity to:u00a0 + Concept and design:u00a0Design visual assets including infographics, data visualizations, icons, social mediau00a0templates, publicationu00a0layoutsu00a0and video prototypes as needed.u00a0 + Improve content accessibility:u00a0Review and update existing materials to ensure compliance withADA and WCAG 2.1accessibility standards, including color contrast, typography, alt text, and logical reading order.u00a0Assistu00a0in developingbrand, design, and accessibility guidelines and training materialsu00a0that help staff and partners apply agency design and accessibility standards consistently.u00a0 + Network and be part of a team:Report to the Art Director andu00a0have the opportunity tou00a0work with other communications professionals and internal clients, attend team meetings, and shareu00a0expertise.u00a0 + Receive mentoring:Regular coaching sessions with the Art Director and Communications team members to help build your skills.u00a0 + Showcaseu00a0presentation skills:Present concepts to the Art Director and internal clients and respond to feedback.u00a0 Here are the important qualifications we are looking for:u00a0 + Educational foundation:Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate program in Graphic Design, Communications, Digital Media, Data Visualization, oru00a0a relatedu00a0field.u00a0 + Strong creative and analytical skills:Understand client input and design briefs, generate multiple concepts, and work with feedback;u00a0understanding of WCAG 2.1u00a0AAu00a0accessibility principles or a strong interest in learning;u00a0understanding of branding principles and adherence to brand guidelines a plus.u00a0 + Software:Expertiseu00a0using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator,u00a0PhotoShop); experience with video and using After Effects or Premier, Microsoft Office, and tools such asu00a0Canvau00a0a plus.u00a0 + Effective communication:Oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to worku00a0both independently andu00a0in a team environment.u00a0 + Attention to detail:u00a0Ability to translate design assignments and briefs intou00a0accurate, comprehensive visual designs, with strongu00a0self editingu00a0and proofreading skills prior to review.u00a0 + Portfolio:Please provideu00a0linku00a0tou00a0onlineu00a0portfolio.u00a0 To apply, visit An Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
