Xylem is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager u2013 Heavy Industry to lead a team of sales professionals focused on delivering Xylemu2019s water and wastewater solutions to Heavy Industry customers across the Western Region of the United States . Xylemu2019s Heavy Industry segment includes upstream and midstream oil & gas, oil refining, petrochemical, power generation, mining, pulp & paper, and select food and industrial manufacturing markets . This role is critical to advancing Xylemu2019s growth in complex, capital-intensive industrial environments by driving strategic account penetration, expanding solution-based selling, and strengthening long-term customer partnerships. The Sales Manager will be accountable for regional revenue growth, team performance, pipeline development, and customer satisfaction, while ensuring alignment with Xylemu2019s safety, sustainability, and operational excellence standards. Key Responsibilities: Sales Strategy Development & Execution + Develop and execute a regional sales strategy focused on Heavy Industry customers, EPC partners, and owner/operators, aligned with Xylemu2019s enterprise growth objectives. + Position Xylem as a trusted solutions partner by emphasizing process-critical reliability, lifecycle value, digital capabilities, and sustainability outcomes across industrial water applications. + Identify and pursue new project opportunities, expansions, retrofits, and services while growing penetration within existing strategic accounts. + Translate market trends, regulatory drivers, and customer operational challenges into actionable sales plans. Team Leadership & Sales Management + Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of Heavy Industry sales professionals to meet and exceed revenue, margin, and pipeline targets. + Recruit, onboard, and develop talent capable of selling into complex industrial buying centers with long sales cycles and technically demanding applications. + Provide ongoing performance management, deal coaching, and strategic account guidance to maximize individual and team effectiveness. + Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety awareness, and customer-centric selling. Strategic Account & Customer Engagement + Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with key Heavy Industry customers, engineering firms, EPCs, and channel partners. + Serve as an escalation point for critical customer engagements, negotiations, and large or complex projects. + Partner closely with service, applications engineering, and operations teams to ensure solutions meet customer performance and reliability expectations. Sales Forecasting, Pipeline & Performance Management + Own regional forecasting accuracy, pipeline health, and CRM discipline in support of business planning and investment decisions. + Analyze sales performance metrics, win/loss trends, and market data to continuously refine strategies and improve execution. Cross-Functional Collaboration + Collaborate with marketing, product management, engineering, and digital teams to align Heavy Industry value propositions and go-to-market strategies. + Provide regular market intelligence and customer insights to senior leadership to inform portfolio innovation, pricing, and strategic initiatives. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement + Drive adoption of best-in-class sales processes, tools, and methodologies aligned with Xylem standards.Continuously identify opportunities to enhance sales effectiveness, customer experience, and operational efficiency within the Heavy Industry segment. Qualifications: Education & Experience + Bacheloru2019s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field; MBA preferred. + 7+ years of progressive sales experience, including sales leadership within Heavy Industry or industrial water/wastewater markets . + Demonstrated success selling complex, engineered solutions into industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power, mining, or heavy manufacturing. + Proven ability to lead teams, close large-scale projects, and drive sustained revenue growth in competitive industrial environments. + Deep domain knowledge of Heavy Industry water treatment and process applications is required. Skills & Competencies + Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational development capabilities. + Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and strategic selling skills. + Analytical and data-driven decision-maker with strong forecasting and pipeline management abilities. + Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Technical & Commercial Expertise + Strong understanding of industrial water and wastewater systems, including treatment, pumping, reuse, and digital monitoring solutions. + Familiarity with Xylemu2019s Heavy Industry portfolio and solution-selling approach is highly desirable. + Proficiency with CRM platforms and sales performance management tools. Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 plus bonus.Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
