And we fight for them u2014 in Congress and the states, the courts, and in the court of public opinion.u00a0 The Brennan Centeru2019s Elections and Government Program works to improve the administration of our elections so that they are free, fair, and accessible for all voters; reduce the undue influence of private wealth, and amplify the voices of everyday people, in politics; and combat election disinformation and political violence, among other goals. Reporting to the Director of the Elections and Government Program, the Advocacy Campaign Strategist willu00a0be responsible foru00a0strategically coordinating the Programu2019s engagement with external partners and stakeholders and for coordinating complex projects to achieve advocacy goals. The Elections and Government Program is looking to hire an experienced campaign strategist. The Advocacy Campaign Strategist position reports to the DC-based Director of the Elections and Government Program.u00a0 u00a0 Note:u00a0Thisu00a0position isu00a0based in Washington, D.C. Candidatesu00a0locatedu00a0in New York City will still be considered.u00a0u00a0 Responsibilities:u00a0 + Contribute to planning and execution of advocacy campaigns to achieve Elections and Government Program goals, including:u00a0 + Provide project management, organization, logistical solutions, and administrative support, as needed.u00a0 + Identify tools and methods to increase effectiveness and efficiency ofu00a0teamu2019su00a0work.u00a0 + Coordinate communications between program staff and internal/external stakeholders.u00a0 + Engage in field advocacy, including:u00a0 + Participate in coalition meetings, convenings, briefings.u00a0 + Develop andu00a0maintainu00a0productive relationships with election officials, grassroots allies, civic partners, government staff, elected officials, and other outside stakeholders.u00a0 + Identifyu00a0and create opportunities to advance program goals in the field, as well as to improve the programu2019s advocacy with learning and perspectives from the field.u00a0 + Conceive and execute advocacy products, such as blog posts, digital media products, public comments, FAQs, and other assets, in collaboration with communications colleagues whereu00a0appropriate, with focus on broadening and increasing partner engagement with programu2019s work.u00a0 + Contribute research andu00a0writing foru00a0policy and empirical research reports that will form the basis of advocacy campaigns.u00a0 + Contribute tou00a0programu2019su00a0media and public education work, including strategy, talking points, and speaking engagements.u00a0 + This role will require 25%u00a0or moreu00a0travel.u00a0 + Help to train new program support staff, including program associates, and serve as their first point of advice on routine matters.u00a0 Experience andu00a0Qualifications:u00a0 + A bacheloru2019s degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience areu00a0required.u00a0 + A can-do attitude u2013 proactive,u00a0solutions-focusedu00a0with comfort in ambiguity and initiative to u2018figure it outu2019.u00a0 + Experience holding full-time responsibility in a campaign setting such as electoral campaigns,u00a0issueu00a0or legislative campaigns, or community organizing.u00a0 + Strong drive and ability to take initiative, plan, prioritize (and, occasionally, pivot), and keep self and colleagues at various levels of seniority informed, organized, and on task in a fast-paced environment.u00a0 + Demonstrated ability to execute advocacy campaign-related deliverables, such as convenings, reports, sign-on letters, partnership agreements, and/or relationship-management databases.u00a0 + Strong ability to track and synthesize complex information and convey it persuasively, in writing and oral presentations, to different audiences including government officials, community-based organizations, and the public.u00a0 + Strong interpersonal skills and the desire and ability to build andu00a0maintainu00a0positive relationships within and outside the organization.u00a0 + Mature judgment, a problem-solving approach to challenges, a growth mindset in the face of setbacks, and ability to keep calm under pressure.u00a0 + Exceptional professionalism, integrity, discretion, and tact.u00a0 + Enthusiasm to learn and advocate the work of the Elections and Government Program, including a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in improving U.S. democracy.u00a0 + Working familiarity with campaign finance, voting procedures, or election administration is a significant plus.u00a0 + Proficiencyu00a0in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.u00a0 We are committed to considering a wide range of candidates, including those with diverse experiences and backgrounds.
