Other duties as assigned. Executes expert-level pharmacy technician duties with mastery across all core and advanced workflows. Serves as the recognized subject matter expert in a designated specialty area, such as ADC systems, cleanroom/compounding, diversion prevention, informatics, investigational drugs, or medication history, based on organizational need and individual expertise. Resolves complex issues and provides technical support related to the specialty area. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure system functionality and process integrity. Develops and enforces protocols and work process to ensure accuracy, safety, and quality in defined specialty area. Provides real-time feedback and guidance to team members. Coordinates continuity and standardization of specialty program and monitors performance across teams, shifts, and pharmacy practice areas. Acts as a specialty liaison across the technician team, clinical team, and pharmacy leadership. Communicates operational needs, escalates issues, and supports departmental goals. Manages daily operations and leads projects within the specialty area. Develops and refines workflows, protocols, and training materials to support excellence in specialized practice. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards, institutional policies, and best practices within the specialty area. Participates in audits, documentation, and continuous quality improvement. Monitors and evaluates specialty area system performance and integrity to detect and mitigate service failures impacting medication safety. Works closely with pharmacy leadership, clinical teams, IT, compliance, and other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Enlists collaborative support from Lead Pharmacy Technician as needed to improve or advance targeted specialty pharmacy services. Utilizes data and reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends, and support decision-making within the specialty area. Contributes to strategic planning and innovation. Contributes to the advancement of pharmacy technician practice by modeling excellence in specialized care and supporting professional development. Develops and delivers training for pharmacy and clinical staff related to the specialty area and assists with determining competency or formal performance assessments. Supports onboarding and competency validation for technicians working in or rotating through the specialty. Designs enterprise-level projects, system upgrades, and service expansion efforts related to the specialty. Shares expertise across campuses and supports standardization. Represents pharmacy in committees, shared governance, and enterprise initiatives. Champions innovation and continuous professional growth. Participates in research or innovation efforts. Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) Specialist u2013 Provides expert-level support for ADC systems, including cabinet maintenance, user access, formulary updates, issue resolution, and system optimization projects. Leads ADC-related training for pharmacy and clinical staff and supports cross-campus ADC initiatives and system upgrades. Cleanroom/Compounding Specialist u2013 Maintains cleanroom integrity, prepares complex sterile or hazardous products, performs routine environmental and media fill testing, and leads compounding protocol optimization. Supports USP , , and compliance and assists in staff onboarding and competency assessment related to cleanroom practices. Diversion Prevention Analyst u2013 Supports diversion prevention initiatives by reviewing medication transactions, conducting discrepancy investigations, and performing trend analyses across controlled substance records. Collaborates with supervisors, medical staff, nursing leadership, compliance, and clinical departments to investigate and mitigate suspected diversion activity, and maintain adherence to DEA and State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Informatics Specialist u2013 Performs data extraction, analysis, and reporting through platforms such as inventory management and EMR systems, warehouse logistics tools, dispensing cabinets, and RFID technologies. Supports pharmacy technology optimization, training, system maintenance, investigation-related reporting, and workflows using supply chain initiatives. Investigational Drug Specialist u2013 Manages the clinical investigational drug inventory, both physical and within investigational drug software. Documents research staff onboarding, tracks drug preparation and storage, supports investigational protocol activities, and participates in site initiation visits and monitoring follow-ups. Medication History Specialist u2013 Completes accurate medication histories in alignment with best practices, supporting the pharmacist-led medication reconciliation process. Triages medication history workload across multiple campuses or units and trains staff in standardized history collection practices and tools.
