If you are detail-oriented and adaptive, we are currently looking for a Business Operations Director I to assume a lead role. BAE Systems is hiring a Director I Business Operations to support our Ship Repair business in Norfolk, VA. The Director is a key member of the site leadership team and will lead all aspects of the Maritime Solutions Norfolk Strategic and Operational-level planning efforts and activities. The role is responsible for the business operations, strategy, and implementation of Navy and Commercial Ship Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO), and modernization programs. The role analyzes and reports on key insights including budget status, workforce leveling, facilities management and administration, equipment availability, and other company capabilities. The Director will determine customer requirements and translate the requirements into organizational plans for multiple competing programs and availabilities, meeting internal and external missions and goals simultaneously. This role reports directly to the General Manager. Performance for this position will be evaluated based on the success of all availabilities within the BAE Maritime Solutions Norfolk portfolio, both at the project and site level. Performance will be measured against predetermined safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals. Responsibilities: + Serve as an active member for oversight of all proposal and pre-production activities, through engagement with all functional and operational teams. + Work directly with Proposals, Estimating, and Contracts to ensure program compliance throughout all availabilities from initial solicitations through the end of each availability, as well as Fabrication Programs. + Lead the Facilities organization and direction on all initiatives, including capital projects and vendor management. + Develop and track new and existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and multiple metrics to evaluate overall program performance using our Earned Value Management System (EVMS). + Work closely with business counterparts including Operations, Procurement, Contracts, Finance, HR, Safety/Health/Environment (SHE), and Quality. + Manage the development of all schedules and planning products, providing oversight of data-driven metrics used to drive company performance and ensure all projects are on track to meet/exceed corporate financial goals and customer expectations. + Define, plan, develop, and implement strategies policies, practices, and programs that leverage the corporation s skills, capabilities, and experience for government and commercial customers in support of business objectives. + Hold all departments accountable for meeting schedule and cost goals throughout the duration of each project. + Maintain and comply with BAE Systems Life Cycle Maintenance (LCM) processes. + Conduct regular reviews of program performance through assessment of metrics to ensure program objectives are met, including safety, quality, cost, and schedule. + Own the Earned Value Management System for BAE Norfolk Ship Repair; provide guidance and development of new tools to drive performance efficiency and schedule adherence. + Engage with customers and stakeholders (internal and external) to establish/improve relationships, understand requirements, and communicate accomplishments or issues. + Ensure collaboration between the Program Management Organization and all stakeholders. + Monitor, control, and communicate project, budget, staffing, schedule, and performance status; prepare status reports; and effectively manage program and project scope. + Drive innovation and solutions; facilitate alignment of corporate investments with new and emerging customer needs; and identify opportunities for growth. + Create a culture where everyone is valued, engaged, and invested in our success. + Develop people, including succession planning, education, courses, and training that improve people skills and engagement, and drives performance and productivity throughout the shipyard. + Instill a culture of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) excellence throughout the organization, including continuous improvement of Safety standards, and ensure compliance with SHE objectives and policies. + Manage program financials in accordance with BAE Systems policies and standards. + Participate in strategic business planning and business development activities. + Monitor Test and Inspection Plan completion to support project quality requirements and schedule goals. + Monitor cost and schedule performance across all departments; evaluate performance weekly and develop mitigation plans with Ships Management teams. + Exercise judgement in evaluating and proactively anticipating schedule and budget deviations; provide solutions to Ship Manager for resolution. + Evaluate and adhere to NAVSEA Standard Items (Repair) and commercial standards as required. + Manage conflict in a collaborative working environment; support meetings and tasking as assigned by the General Manager. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, Finance, or similar field and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience + Experience with Ship Repair, Shipbuilding, Ship Fabrication, or other Maritime Services industries + Experience in Operations Management, Program Management, Business Development, or similar Maritime Services role + Experience in People Management/Leadership and Cross-functional Leadership + Experience in Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and/or Performance Management (KPIs/Metrics) + Knowledge of Defense Contracting requirements and compliance + Ability to lead a portfolio of complex projects and programs + Ability to prioritize work projects and requirements; develop concepts, plans, and work schedules; and communicate them to multi-level stakeholders + Ability to influence and lead across multiple disciplines with clear contributions to project/program results + Ability to monitor performance through Earned Value Management System metrics to deliver business results + Ability to communicate data with other functions in an accurate, concise, and understandable manner + Ability to analyze and understand problems and collaborate cross-functionally to explore solutions + Ability to make decisions with sound judgment while complying with policies and procedures + Ability to lead change, transformation, and improvement + Ability to hire, develop, coach, and mentor talent + Demonstrated problem solving and in-depth data driven analytical skills + Strong interpersonal skills to influence and lead a diverse team of professionals + Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills + Good negotiation and influencing skills + Excellent communications and presentation skills + Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Master s Degree + Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification + Experience in New Construction Shipbuilding or Ship Repair + Experience in Navy Contracts + Expertise in Performance Management (KPIs/Metrics) and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) + Expertise in Data Analytics and Reporting + Expertise in Change Management, Organizational Transformation, and Process Improvement + Positive and team-oriented approach to problem solving + Proficiency in Deltek, MS Project, Primavera, or similar PM/Planning tools + Proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, or similar Data Visualization tools + Advanced Excel skills **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $138267 - $235053 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
