Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Position Summary The part-time ANR Program Assistant will perform duties necessary to assist the County Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent in the day-to-day operation of program delivery. Duties will include answering phone calls, greeting and assisting guests, sample identification and microscope work, leading adult education meetings during the day, night, and on weekends, teaching established curriculum to youth and adults, presenting at career fairs and other outreach functions, and assisting with the Master Gardener Extension volunteer program. This is a fast-paced position that requires critical thinking, initiative, mastery of content, time management, and attention to detail. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Proficient in typing, filing, computer skills such as Windows and Microsoft Office, social media, and use of a smartphone Strong organizational and other soft skills Working knowledge of office practices and procedures Ability to use independent judgment and discretion with confidential information Ability to work with limited supervision Physical Demands Pack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles, outdoor garden work, set up rooms for program delivery, etc. Travel to Extension events, as well as provide transportation to these events for youth or adult participants utilizing county vehicles such as a -passenger van or minibus. Sit at a desk or stand in a classroom setting for extended periods of time. Driving, walking, running, bending, stooping, stairs, uneven ground. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Assist in planning and facilitating ANR programming, including reserving venues, creating promotional materials, registering participants, copying handouts, preparing materials for class participants, and assisting with program set-up and break-down. Assist with client services by answering homeowner lawn and landscape questions. Utilize website and social media to increase ANR program outreach. Maintain and update listservs for volunteer groups (MGEV, MNEV) and client groups (Extension Community, Small Flock owners, agricultural producers, green industry professionals). Conduct ANR programs with prepared curriculum that meets the needs of clients. Conduct and develop in-school lessons related to school gardens and other horticulture-based programs. Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Assist in management and assignment of Master Gardener Extension Volunteers, including tracking volunteer reporting requirements and annual paperwork (RMT, Volunteer Agreement). Assist MGEVs with outreach programming by suggesting educational events and assisting with or leading MGEV training activities. Maintain communication with MGEVs through weekly announcements and updates and by attending board meetings, Lunch & Learn meetings, and MGEV team-building events. Work with ANR agent and MGEV board members to make volunteers aware of program participation requirements, Extension/ MGEV projects, volunteer opportunities, and continuing education opportunities. Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Maintain appropriate records for fiscal reporting of program areas. May prepare various accounting forms and exercise basic accounting responsibility in reconciling Extension program budgets. Keep financial records current within the existing month. Budget allocated funds so that equipment, supplies, travel expenses, and other program supports are within limits, and seek additional resources for programs. Percentage of time Duties/Responsibilities Perform specific tasks and assume leadership for certain program areas as specified by the District Extension Director or County Extension Coordinator.
