As the organization continues to grow and evolve following the recent acquisition by Lowe’s, we are investing in strong, forward-thinking talent to support our long-term success.Position OverviewThe Risk Management Liability Claims Specialist coordinates the end-to-end workflow for auto, general liability, property, and environmental claims, from first notice of loss through investigation support, documentation management, repair or remediation coordination, and ongoing claim status follow-up.This role is well-suited for a claims professional who enjoys working outside of an insurance carrier or third-party administrator environment, while remaining deeply engaged in claims operations. The Specialist partners closely with Drivers, Branch Leaders, Safety, Operations, Insurance Carriers, Environmental Consultants, and Third-Party Administrators (TPA) to ensure timely reporting, complete and accurate claim files, and consistent communication across all claim types.The ideal candidate brings strong multi-line claims process knowledge, high attention to detail, and a proactive mindset focused on keeping claims moving while supporting loss prevention, compliance, and continuous improvement within FBM’s in-house Risk Management function.Key ResponsibilitiesClaim Intake & First Notice of LossIncident intake: Receive and review incident notifications related to auto accidents, third-party liability events, property damage, and environmental incidents. Confirm loss details and collect required information, including involved parties, vehicles or property, dates and locations, photos, witness statements, police or incident reports, and regulatory notifications when applicable. Secure Samsara video for vehicle-related incidentsClaim reporting: Submit first notice of loss to the appropriate insurance carrier or third-party administrator for auto, liability, property, or environmental claims, confirm claim numbers, and communicate next steps to internal stakeholdersTriage and escalation: Assess claim severity and urgency, coordinate immediate needs such as towing, property protection, or environmental response, and escalate significant exposures to the Risk and Legal teams as appropriateDocumentation & Claim File ManagementClaim file quality: Build and maintain complete and accurate claim files by collecting statements, estimates, invoices, remediation reports, repair documentation, environmental assessments, and correspondence in the claim system or RMISDiary management: Track key milestones, regulatory deadlines, follow-up dates, and outstanding items to ensure timely progression and resolution of all claim typesInformation coordination: Respond promptly and accurately to adjuster, carrier, environmental consultant, and third-party administrator requests to prevent delays in coverage determinations, repairs, remediation approvals, or settlementsCarrier, Consultant & Third-Party Administrator (TPA) CoordinationPrimary liaison: Serve as the main point of contact between internal teams and external partners, including insurance carriers, TPAs, environmental consultants, and vendors, ensuring consistent communication and clear accountabilityStatus updates: Provide regular claim status updates to branch leadership and management across auto, liability, property, and environmental claims; escalate stalled or delayed claims for actionService recovery: Identify and resolve issues that hinder claim progress, including missing documentation, unclear facts of loss, regulatory considerations, or vendor coordination gapsRepair, Remediation & Physical Damage SupportRepair and remediation coordination: Coordinate vehicle repairs, property repairs, and environmental response or remediation activities with approved vendors. Track estimates, supplements, parts delays, remediation timelines, and completion statusInvoice review: Validate repair, remediation, and related invoices for accuracy and route them through the appropriate internal approval processesRental and temporary support: Support rental vehicle coordination, temporary property solutions, or interim mitigation efforts as required.Subrogation, Recovery & Liability SupportRecovery documentation: Support subrogation and recovery efforts for auto, liability, property, and environmental claims by providing photos, statements, police or incident reports, remediation documentation, and timelines, and identifying third-party involvement when applicableEvidence preservation: Ensure relevant evidence and documentation are retained and organized to support recovery efforts, dispute resolution, regulatory inquiries, or litigationReporting & Trend MonitoringClaim reporting: Maintain trackers for open and closed claims, claim aging, repair and remediation cycle times, rental duration, and frequent loss drivers across all claim types. Prepare routine summaries for leadershipTrend analysis: Identify recurring loss patterns by location, vehicle type, property exposure, or environmental risk and share actionable insights with Safety, Operations, and Risk Management teamsCompliance & General SupportCompliance support: Ensure claim files meet internal documentation standards, insurance requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations; support audit readiness through organized records and consistent notesCross-functional collaboration: Partner with Safety, Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and Environmental teams to support investigations, statement coordination, regulatory reporting, and exposure managementAdditional responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the Risk Management teamMiscellaneousSupport our values in the stand areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customersLead or contribute to special projects as assignedQualificationsPreferred certifications: AIC (Associate in Claims), SCLA (Senior Claim Law Associate), AEI liability and automobile claims and coverage coursework, AIC-M (Associate in Claims Management), or other applicable claims or risk management certificationsExperience: Two to five (2-5+) years of experience supporting auto, liability, property, and/or environmental claims in claims coordination, claims administration, fleet claims support, insurance, or risk management roles, and/or an equivalent degree in Risk ManagementTechnical knowledge: Working knowledge of claims processes, including investigation support, documentation requirements, repair or remediation coordination, and coverage considerationsSkills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active claims, deadlines, and stakeholder requestsCommunication: Strong written and verbal communication skills and a customer service-oriented approachTechnical proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and WordSchedule: This is an in-office role five (5) days per week with an early morning schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Reports ToDirector of Risk ManagementCompensationThe listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market.
