Overview: The Routing Optimization Specialist develops, maintains, and optimizes branch-level routing to ensure safety, efficiency, productivity, and service quality. This role conducts route analysis, evaluates operational performance, and implements improvements to enhance branch efficiency.The analyst provides ongoing support and guidance to branch and area leadership and enables Operations Coordinators in routing and dispatch systems. They partner with teams to identify process improvements, manage reroutes, and address ad-hoc operational needs. Travel to branches for projects, site visits, and onboarding supports effective execution of routing strategies. Responsibilities: Routing Analysis & OptimizationConduct branch assessments and root-cause analyses using routing tools and operational performance data to identify operational improvement opportunities.Evaluate route size, density, efficiency, and hours of service to determine when rerouting is needed.Perform facility and market-level reroutes and recommend operational adjustments to improve route efficiency.Provide proactive routing and operational support using routing and logistics software.Support ad-hoc or emergency routing needs as required.Performance Monitoring & ImprovementMonitor branch performance against productivity and efficiency targets; assist Area Management in developing improvement plans.Provide resource recommendations to management teams.Monitor performance across Operations Coordinators and provide targeted operational enablement to improve routing effectiveness and overall operational execution.Partner with Operations teams to identify routing changes and process improvement munication & Relationship ManagementMaintain proactive communication with local leadership, VPs, GMs, & DOR.Build and maintain strong working relationships with leadership & branch operations staff.Operational Support & EnablementSupport Operations Coordinators by providing operational enablement and subject-matter support in routing and dispatch systems, ensuring proficiency in route adjustments, issue resolution, opportunity identification, and ongoing capability development.Travel & Project SupportTravel to branches for reroute projects, site visits, employee onboarding, and other business needs (up to 25%).Complete special projects as assigned.Valid driver license (Class CDL A, B, or C).Clear driving record and proof of current automobile insurance.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications: EDUCATIONMin/PreferredEducation LevelDescriptionMinimumHigh school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Associate’s degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school and 2-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.EXPERIENCEMinimum Years of ExperienceMaximum Years of ExperienceComments25Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in transportation field.ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESTechnical Expertise & Operational Competence: Experience with multi-stop routing systems and dispatch procedures. This includes proficiency with computer applications including Navision, Microsoft Office, and routing/logistics munication & Interpersonal Effectiveness: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. This requires the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees in both verbal and written formats.Analytical & Quantitative Reasoning: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Experience with calculating rates, discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, etc.Strategic & Operational Planning: Ability to develop, implement, and monitor operational plans and routing strategies to optimize efficiency and productivity.Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization: Ability to identify, design, and implement process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.Adaptability & Emergency Response: Ability to respond to unexpected operational challenges and make timely, effective decisions under pressure. Within the posted salary range, individual pay is determined by the geographic location, job related skills, experience, education, and certifications.
