Job Title: SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Process Engineer u2013 NPI Job Description The Hardware (SMT) Engineer will collaborate with internal and external customers to assist in the design and development of both new products. This role involves providing processing-related technical customer support and researching new and improved methods for processing products. A thorough understanding of SMT electronic assembly, including solder printing processes, pick & place, reflow thermal profiling, automatic inspection, cleaning, x-ray analysis, electrical/functional testing, and SMT troubleshooting, is essential. Responsibilities + Collaborate with internal and external customers on product design and development. + Provide technical support related to processing for customers. + Research and implement new and improved processing methods. + Understand and apply SMT electronic assembly processes such as solder printing, pick & place, and reflow thermal profiling. + Conduct automatic inspections, cleaning, x-ray analysis, and electrical/functional testing. + Troubleshoot SMT-related issues. Essential Skills + Bachelors + 3 years of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) experience + Engineering Degree or familiarity with IPC-A-610 Certification + Soldering techniques. + Experience writing technical documentation. + Green Card Holder or U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in new product development or R&D projects preferred but not required. Work Environment The role is based in an R&D new product development manufacturing line, not a volume SMT line. Work hours are Monday to Friday, onsite from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to start earlier, from 7 AM to 4 PM if needed. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of New Albany, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
