Salary Range $19.00 - $20.00 Hourly Position Type Full Time Travel Percentage None Description Make a difference in a family's life Volunteers of America Upstate New York's Children's Center services provides educational programs focused on early childhood development and school readiness for children 6 weeks through 12 years old. The center serves more than 500 children and families on an annual basis and provides additional support services such as a full-time Registered Nurse, family development services, on-going parent training, full-day care, and disability supports for children with special needs. Lead Teacher Daycare JOB SUMMARY The Lead Teacher provides for all aspects of care and education in the classroom. The Lead Teacher ensures that developmentally appropriate activities are provided, that appropriate assessment of childrenu2019s progress is completed, and that appropriate standards or regulations are followed. Additionally, the teacher makes sure that each childu2019s individual needs are met. The teacher is responsible for integrating curriculum performance standards in the overall management of the classroom, including promoting social, physical, and intellectual growth, and providing a safe, healthy environment for the enrolled children. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Provide active, fully engaged supervision of the children at all times. + Provide developmentally appropriate activities and experiences to facilitate the childrenu2019s development in multiple areas. + Ensure that the classroom meets each childu2019s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs. + Ensure that child assessments and screenings are completed. + Schedule and conduct individual parent-teacher conferences according to VOA schedule, communicate on a regular basis with parents/guardian + Maintain classroom cleanliness and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including state regulations, accreditation standards, and performance standards + Implement strategies from the Mental Health/Behavioral Specialist for children with social-emotional or behavioral issues. + Organize and Implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities reinforcing educational goals, attending to the individual needs of the children EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS + Creative, nurturing, organized, energetic and flexible personality + Professionalism and exemplary work ethic. + Knowledge of NYS OCFS regulations. + Child Development Associate or Teaching Assistant certification required + Associateu2019s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred + Minimum of one year of classroom experience required VOA provides comprehensive benefits for eligible employees including: + Competitive Pay + Paid Time Off + Health, Dental, Vision Insurance + Company Paid Life & LTD Insurance + 403(b), & more Volunteers of America is an equal opportunity employer.
