Yes County Albany Street Address 625 Broadway City Albany State NY Zip Code 12233 Duties Description u2022Maintains real property records, including but not limited to survey mapping, title files, indexes, by coordinate with the regional staff on submittals, review, and cataloging of such records.u2022Assists in clearing Attorney General title objections for priority projects in various Regions where and when regional workload requires assistance.u2022Assists various Regions in preparing preliminary project/deed compilation maps and title research for use by Attorney General regarding land title litigation and the land acquisition.u2022Search internal and public records for survey and title information for land acquisition projects and administrative surveys.u2022Supervise and train field crews in the operation of modern terrestrial, geodetic surveying, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) instruments, proper field survey procedures, and work zone safety.u2022Plan and schedule work assignments for projects.u2022Maintain and perform basic maintenance on survey equipment.u2022Conduct reconnaissance and field surveys for administrative and land acquisition surveys.u2022Prepare deed plots and review maps.u2022Process, balance, and transform data derived from optical and GNSS observations.u2022Assist in determination of boundaries through field survey measurements and research.u2022Prepare survey maps in CADD.u2022Perform property boundary surveys utilizing applicable survey principles and practices. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Minimum Qualifications for appointment to Land Surveyor Trainee, NS: Either 1. Graduation from an Engineering Accreditation Commission, Engineering Technology Accreditation, or Commission Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology accredited bacheloru2019s or higher degree program in surveying or surveying technology; or 2. Eligibility to sit for the Fundamentals of Surveying examination through the National Council for Examiners of Engineering and Surveying via letter issued by the New York State Board for Engineering and Land Surveying (proof of eligibility required).Minimum Qualifications for appointment to Assistant Land Surveyor, SG-20: Proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Surveying Examination (FS) or successful completion of 52 weeks of service as a Land Surveyor Trainee and successful completion of the FS examination.Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DECorReinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.orTransfer Eligible - Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: one year of permanent competitive service as a Land Surveyor Technician 2.55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications above and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c dividuals appointed as a Land Surveyor Trainee are required to complete a minimum of one year of successful performance as a Land Surveyor Trainee and pass the Fundamentals of Surveying Examination (FS). If you pass the FS by the end of the first year, you may be advanced to the Grade 20 Assistant Land Surveyor title. If you do not pass the FS by the end of the second year of the traineeship, you will be terminated from your position. Additional Comments If appointment is at the Assistant Land Surveyor, SG-20 level, the starting salary for this position is $81,193. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $74,193 with an additional geographic pay differential of $7,000, specific to this title and location. The job rate for this position is $101,121. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $94,121 with an additional geographic.Must have a valid driveru2019s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
