44297BR Extended Job Title: Tradesperson Leader-Paint Shop Position Description: Performs supervisory and participatory work in the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures. Responsibilities include the supervision of a work crew involved in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of equipment, furnishings, and various other structures and fixtures. Duties also include the actual hands-on work in this area. Work is performed under the general supervision of the foreman with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise other assigned workers. Requisition ID: 44297BR Optional Attachments: Professional/Personal Reference Travel Required: Up to 25% Major/Essential Functions: + Maintain and operate vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas safely and efficiently. + Help the shop foreman with scheduling, work coordination, personnel actions, and administrative tasks. + Assign and prioritize work orders, review project plans, prepare cost estimates, and ensure quality control. + Perform inspections and oversee daily worksite operations and material usage. + Mix, match, and apply paints and finishes; refinish interior/exterior surfaces and furnishings. + Assess material needs, prepare requisitions, and complete reports or studies as requested. + Perform additional duties as assigned. Grant Funded?: No Pay Basis: Hourly Schedule Details: 07:45 AM 04:45 PM Work Location: Lubbock Preferred Qualifications: + Minimum five (5) years on-the-job experience as a journeyperson painter. + Accredited journeyperson level certified training as a painter can be substituted for three (3) years work experience. + Completion of Maintenance Management for First Line Supervisors course preferred but not required. Technical courses including, but not limited to, the painting field desired, but not required. + Supervisory training courses desired but not required. + Supervisory experience of crafts people and equipment related to the position preferred but not required. Department: Ops Div Facilities Maintenance Job Type: Full Time Shift: Day Required Qualifications: Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Two years experience as a licensed journeyperson in designated trade; or five years related experience. Job-related vocational training or education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis. This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience. Job Family: Facilities Operations Job Sub Family: Skilled Crafts & Trades Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Provides assistance in the operational control, direction & management over the Paint Shop work center to include: operations, maintenance, renovations & new construction. Assists craftsmen in identifying problem areas, troubleshooting & providing guidance in developing solutions. Good communication skills, both written & verbal. + Must pass pulmonary function test & be certified to wear negative pressure respirator. + Completion of apprenticeship training program as a painter. Hourly Pay Range: $19.47 - $25.29 - $31.15
