Sentara is hiring a Medication History Pharmacy Technician II for the Emergency Department at Virginia Beach General Hospital.Location: Virginia Beach General Hospital- Virginia Beach, VAStatus: Full Time (40 Hours/wk)Shift: Mon-Fri, Days/Evening, 8 hour shiftsHours: 1pm-930pmTwo weekend shifts per month & Holiday Rotation requiredHours may vary outside of listed hours to meet Pharmacy staffing needsThe Pharmacy Tech II- Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.Work in ED to get medication history from patientsDiscuss with patient or anyone with patient what meds patient currently is onCall pharmacies, PCP, Nursing home to gather additional med history if neededMay also work in central Pharmacy (Filling meds, delivery of meds)Participates in the training of new employeesFills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitionerEnsures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient careTriages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as neededUses appropriate systems for processing patient informationEnsures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirementsOperates pharmacy equipment appropriatelyParticipates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient careTraining in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job functionIn addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assignedEducationHigh School Diploma or EquivalentCertification/LicensureVirginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)Experience2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required)Emergency Department Medication History Experience (Preferred) Pharmacy Tech, PTCB, NHA, Medication, Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician, Compounding, Epic, Hospital, Medication History Tech, Emergency Department, ED, LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, Talroo-Allied Health, #LI-SM1, MTM, medication therapy management, brown bag review
