We have an exciting opportunity for a local/Nonlocal Deck Hand position in Newport News, VA with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry. QualificationsPreparing all necessary towing gear is in good order, properly stowed, and ready for useEnsuring that tug and barge equipment is in good operating conditionMaking sure barges are moored safely along piers and shipsMaking sure all hatches are properly secured to prevent ingress of waterKnowing where all emergency equipment is located and ensuring first aid kit is fully stockedAct as lookout during the navigation of a tugPerform periodic checks of the engine room and including the bilges, fluid levels on main and auxiliary engines and gear boxes, and battery water levelsKeep all areas of the tug in clean, organized, and safe conditionHours:Must be open to all 3 shifts1st shift-7am-3:30pm2nd 3:30pm-12am3rd shift 11pm-7amPay:$22-$27.31 Hour$135/day per diem for those who qualify
