This position plays a key role in delivering the high-quality truck bodies and trailers our customers expect. The innovative product line-up is prevalent in industries such as food & beverage, vending, propane, rental trucks, emergency & rescue, battery, oil & natural gas, and data storage. The company operates in 4 states with over 400 Mickey employees at these locations. About the RoleThe Autobody Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting truck bodies, trailers, and components according to company quality and safety standards. You will ensure all finished surfaces meet durability, appearance, and performance expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare surfaces through sanding, masking, cleaning, and primingMix and match paint colors for accurate finish resultsApply paint coatings using spray guns (HVLP)Inspect and correct defects such as sags, runs, or thin spotsFollow all safety, environmental, and material-handling proceduresMaintain spray guns, paint booths, and equipmentApply undercoats, sealers, and topcoats to various surfaces (metal, fiberglass, composites)Work with production teams to meet job timelinesRecord paint usage, color codes, and job detailsPerform touch-ups and final finish repairsQualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum 2 years of autobody or industrial painting experienceStrong knowledge of paint prep, application techniques, and materialsExperience with HVLP spray equipmentAbility to recognize and correct finish defectsPreferredExperience painting truck bodies or trailersTechnical/vocational training in paint applicationSkills & CompetenciesExcellent attention to detail and craftsmanshipStrong color-matching abilityUnderstanding of OSHA/EPA safety practicesAbility to work independently and on a teamDependable, punctual, and organizedWork EnvironmentManufacturing/shop environmentPaint booth and shop settingExposure to noise, metal dust, insulation materials, fumes, and moving machineryRequired use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and protective clothingRegular standing, walking, bending, and liftingPhysical RequirementsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
