This internship provides hands-on archival experience within a major modern newsroom and focuses primarily on processing and preserving the AJC’s physical archives. This role is ideal for a student who is passionate about archival work, preservation and the stewardship of journalistic history.What You’ll DoProcess and organize AJC’s current physical archival collectionsApply archival best practices, including More Product, Less Process (MPLP) principlesCreate and update finding aids and descriptive metadataAssess materials for preservation and long-term storageWork independently on assigned projects with guidance from newsroom leadershipSupport ongoing archival initiatives and special collections projectsQualificationsCurrent MLIS graduate student requiredWe also accept applicants who have graduated within six months of the internship start dateStrong preference for applicants with experience in campus archives, special collections, libraries or previous archival rolesFamiliarity with basic archival practices, including MPLPExcellent time management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionComfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom environmentDon’t miss out on the first steps toward your future.
