UPMC is excited to announce that we are hiring our third class of Facilities Engineering and Maintenance apprentices. This paid program offers a pathway to skilled trades through hands-on training, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop essential skills while working in a world-renowned health system. When the apprenticeship is successfully completed, the individual is promoted to a Journeyman-1 position and will become a part of the UPMC Career Ladder structure. This role will be a paid position at the standard hourly rate of $19.67/HR. This apprenticeship combines full-time on-the-job training with online learning through Pennsylvania College of Technology Mechatronics Technician Apprenticeship (. Individuals will have the opportunity to take a PMMI certification test at the conclusion of each year. Four-year apprenticeship, four hours of class per week, and full-time on the job training. + Hours are typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, some overtime or weekends may be required. + Location is 2200 Memorial Drive at UPMC Horizon- Shenango If you are ready to start your career in a trade, look no further and apply today Responsibilities: + Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers and controls. + Assist with installation, replacement, repair, and testing of electrical circuits, equipment, wiring, appliances, systems, lighting, signals, communication, generating and distribution equipment, and power circuits. + Maintain, test, repair and modify heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and related temperature controls and equipment throughout the facility. + Operate, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on high-pressure boilers, boiler auxiliaries, and other related mechanical/ life safety equipment. + Maintain daily log, preventive maintenance records and equipment repair files. + Complete Environmental Health and Safety competencies, attend bi-monthly safety meetings, complete Annual Mandatory training. + High School Diploma or GED + Age 18 at start of apprenticeship + Achieve a score of 35% or higher on aptitude test + Complete in-person interview + Computer knowledge with ability to attend classes online + Must remain in good standing with CCAC, Penn Tech, and UPMC + Must maintain minimum grade standards + Walking or standing for extended periods of time + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally; lift up to 20 lbs frequently. + Some overtime may be required.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + Licensure/Certification: Act 34 Criminal Clearance + Drivers License + Position Specific Licensure/Certification:Must possess appropriate license or registration to meet code requirements, as needed.UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
