Job Title: Sr. Network Security Engineer- Application Delivery & CDN Job Location- Remote, USA _Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future_ We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Engineer to serve as a technical contributor and subject matter expert for enterprise application delivery and network security platforms. This role is networku2011security focused, with mandatory depth in Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), bot protection, and cloudu2011based edge security. The position is responsible for the engineering, operation, optimization, and security of load balancers, WAFs, CDNs, and edge platforms across onu2011premises and major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP). Cybersecurity and CDN expertise are nonu2011negotiable requirements. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of handsu2011on experience, a securityu2011first mindset, and proven ability to operate in complex, highu2011availability, enterprise environments. In this role, you will u00b7 Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for application delivery and network security platforms , including Load Balancers, WAF, Shape Bot Protection, and CDN/edge solutions . u00b7 Perform handsu2011on engineering, configuration, maintenance, tuning, and optimization of application delivery and security platforms across onu2011premises, hybrid, and cloud environments . u00b7 Design, implement, and manage Web Application Firewall (WAF) threat signatures , bot mitigation policies , and edge security controls . u00b7 Engineer and support CDN solutions to ensure application performance, availability, and protection at scale. u00b7 Leverage major cloud providersu2019 native console tools ( AWS, Azure, GCP ) for networking, security, load balancing, and edge services. u00b7 Collaborate closely with Network, Security, Cloud, and Application teams to ensure architectural alignment, continuity, and effective incident response. u00b7 Lead capacity planning, forecasting, and architectural decisions to enable scalable, resilient, and secure application delivery. u00b7 Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and application issues across OSI layers 1u20137 , delivering timely rootu2011cause analysis and remediation. u00b7 Apply risku2011based security decisionu2011making to protect proprietary, personal, and privileged data. u00b7 Implement and maintain best practices for: o WAF and load balancer configurations o SSL/TLS and certificate management o Change control, monitoring, logging, and documentation u00b7 Support security audits and compliance initiatives , including evidence gathering, documentation, and remediation activities. u00b7 Participate in a rotational onu2011call schedule , responding to highu2011priority incidents within defined SLAs and supporting afteru2011hours changes when required. What youu2019ll need to succeed (required skills) u00b7 Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering , or equivalent practical experience. u00b7 7+ years of handsu2011on experience in Network Security , with a strong focus on application delivery and edge security . u00b7 7+ years of experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) , including: + Threat signatures + Policy tuning + OWASP Top 10 protections u00b7 7+ years of experience with Digital Certificates and SSL/TLS , including: + Certificate lifecycle management + SSL/TLS encryption + SSL offloading u00b7 7+ years of experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDN) u2013 mandatory , including performance optimization and security integration. u00b7 7+ years of scripting and automation experience to improve operational efficiency (e.g., Python, Bash, APIu2011based automation). u00b7 Mandatory experience with CDN and edge security platforms , including: + Cloudflare + Akamai + F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) u00b7 Strong handsu2011on expertise with load balancers and WAF platforms , such as: + F5 (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM/AWAF, SSLO) + A10, AVI, Citrix, or equivalent u00b7 Proven experience supporting applications in AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using native cloud networking and security consoles . u00b7 Strong understanding of: + HTTP/HTTPS traffic flows + DNS, TCP/IP, switching, and routing + Application and network security principles Preferred skills: what will help you stand out u00b7 Handsu2011on experience with Shape Bot Protection and advanced bot mitigation strategies. u00b7 Deep familiarity with Cloudflare and Akamai security features , including DDoS protection, bot management, and WAF rule tuning. u00b7 Experience integrating CDN, WAF, and cloud loadu2011balancing services into enterprise architectures. u00b7 Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a securityu2011first mindset . u00b7 Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical topics to both technical and nonu2011technical audiences. Working Conditions (MANDATORY) u00b7 Participation in an onu2011call rotation (approximately one week every four weeks). u00b7 Occasional afteru2011hours, night, or weekend work for scheduled maintenance, upgrades, or emergency incidents. Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $75,000 to $90,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizantu2019s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizantu2019s applicable plans.
