Some of what you'll be doing: This is a year-long internship (part-time during the academic school year and full-time during the summer) to support the Portu2019s ongoing work to strengthen data quality, standardize financial information, and enhance core accounting and asset management processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in driving innovation, leveraging technology, workflow documentation, internal controls alignment, and reporting. The intern will collaborate with general accounting, capital services, and technology teams to improve data consistency and support operational readiness for key asset management initiatives. Key Responsibilities: + Standardize and enhance capital asset data by reviewing existing records, recommending consistent data attributes, and supporting updates within the asset management system. + Document and evaluate accounting and capital asset workflows, mapping them to internal controls and identifying opportunities for process alignment and improvement. + Develop and refine Tableau reports and dashboards to support accounting, capital services, and data governance efforts. Support the physical asset inventory process by compiling results, validating data, and ensuring alignment with asset management standards. + Collaborate with stakeholders and prepare clear summaries of findings, requirements, and project progress to support cross-functional initiatives. + Prepare reports and presentations summarizing project progress, findings, and recommendations for key stakeholders. + Other projects as assigned. Prior experience or coursework related to finance, technology, or digital transformation is a plus. What else you need to know: + Work Schedule u2013 Your normal work schedule will be Monday u2013 Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. + Work Environment u2013 This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management's discretion. + Limited Duration - This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
