Job Description

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Research Intern to perform computational analysis of multi-omic data using AI-based methods. The intern will also be involved in study design, data analysis and manuscript preparation by attending lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars. The Research Intern's primary research focus is to gain mechanistic understanding of immunotherapy, data analysis and manuscript writing. Dr. Sachet Shukla's Lab is a highly translational group focused on antigen discovery and development of personalized immunotherapies. Dr. Shukla's lab develops computational approaches and harness state-of-the-art bulk and single-cell sequencing technologies and experimental assays to identify the full complement of tumor antigens in patient samples, and their cognate T cell receptors. We are creating the next generation of personalized cancer vaccines designed to target antigens identified within each patient. These novel vaccination approaches will be tested in clinical trials across multiple tumor types. We are building pipelines and machine learning models for integrated multi-omic analysis in order to elucidate mechanisms governing immunogenicity, immune escape and clinical outcomes to cancer immunotherapy. We are also establishing a comprehensive computational toolkit for characterization of highly polymorphic immune system-related genes which will significantly enable fundamental and translational research in tumor immunology. All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. LEARNING OBJECTIVES u2022 Laboratory Proficiency: Master experimental methodologies in functional genomics, cell biology, and biochemistry. u2022 Immunology Expertise: Develop a comprehensive understanding of T-cell-mediated immunity and cancer-associated immune evasion. u2022 Data Analytics: Gain hands-on experience in analyzing single cell/spatial multi-omics datasets and data mining. u2022 Scientific Communication: Refine the ability to draft scientific manuscripts and deliver professional research presentations. u2022 Critical Thinking: Strengthen analytical skills through active participation in journal clubs and multidisciplinary seminars. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Applicant must hold a bachelor's or master's degree; degree must have been obtained recently (within 1 year). Applicant must have previous research experience.
