The Aircraft Mechanic II performs maintenance on aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, flight schedule and operations, ventilation and heating systems, phase inspections and preservation services. Essential Responsibilities: u00b7 Repairs and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as blades and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, ensuring hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills are being used properly. u00b7 Reads and interprets manufacturers' and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Also local GOP,LOI, PQS, and Safety Orders. u00b7 Performs 200-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines engines for cracked blades and oil leaks, inspects turbine engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments. u00b7 Inspects engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment. u00b7 Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as generators, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or crane, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. u00b7 Job duties require that this Mechanic II adjusts, repairs, and replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, and miscellaneous duties to include servicing aircraft, including flushing gearbox, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes and corrosion prevention of aircraft. u00b7 Performs jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily; may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul; required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition. u00b7 Repairs and modifies structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies; and may specialize in engine repair. u00b7 Leadership ability is required, assign and monitor; Ensure safety procedures are followed for the following: adjustment, repairs, or replace any aircraft system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing gearbox, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes and corrosion prevention of aircraft. This is not an all-inclusive list. u00b7 Coordinates and participates in the jacking and towing of aircraft, entries into the maintenance records description of all work performed including safety of flight items and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service/inspect/remove/install engine, airframe, electrical, ordnance components in hanger or flight line, required to keep aircraft in safe and mission ready operating condition. u00b7 Must be able to repair and perform modification of all aircraft systems and assemblies. This is not an all-inclusive list. u00b7 Shall be required to specialize in one or more areas engine/airframes/electrical repair. u00b7 Mechanic II shall be responsible for other areas of the aircraft that he or she may be required to fulfill other obligations for aircraft maintenance or administrative duties. This is not an all-inclusive list. u00b7 Must be able and available to work all shifts on site. Additional duties include: u00b7 Housekeeping of all areas of work including shops; participate in FOD program. u00b7 Obtain Quality Assurance Representative qualification. u00b7 May be required to qualify as Plane Captain. u00b7 Comply with all safety requirements. u00b7 Handling and disposing of Hazmat. u00b7 Obtain Phase Coordinator qualification. u00b7 Obtain all support equipment licenses for job description. u00b7 Perform all other position-related duties within the QA department as assigned or requested. u00b7 Comply with all requirements of PWS that are not listed above. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit, use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must have the ability to perform aircraft maintenance duties and move freely about the interior & exterior of the aircraft as well as meet aircraft specific specifications for weight limits. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection. Additionally, the job requires constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines. Minimum Requirements u00b7 High school diploma or equivalent. u00b7 Minimum of five (5) years actual and recent O level H-60S/R Aircraft Maintenance experience or equivalent rotary aircraft experience as well as Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative qualification as a rated Powerplant Machinist (AD). u00b7 Minimum of five (5) years actual H60 CDQAR/QAR experience. u00b7 Two (2) years must be performed at a management level. u00b7 Must be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications and complete all Personal qualification standards within the allotted time as per site instructions. u00b7 Must be able to obtain and maintain Plane Captain qualification. u00b7 Must be able to work all shifts. u00b7 Ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions is required. u00b7 An in-depth knowledge of the applicable aircraft is required. u00b7 A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publication is required. u00b7 Ability to use a computer, keyboard and mouse printer and be proficient using computer programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, NALCOMIS/OOMA. u00b7 Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability are required. u00b7 Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. u00b7 Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks. Preferred Qualifications u00b7 Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred. u00b7 Maintenance/Production Control experience. u00b7 PowerPlants Work center Supervisor or Phase Inspection Coordinator experience. u00b7 Confined Space Entry Authority Certification. Additional Requirements: u00b7 Must have a valid Driveru2019s License. u00b7 Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. u00b7 Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. u00b7 Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) with a Tier 3 adjudication. u00b7 Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. u00b7 Prior experience with U.S. Naval repair maintenance operations on military aircraft highly preferred. Salary and Other Compensation: The hourly rate is $46.39 per hour. Plus $8.00 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, for Health and Welfare.
