Cath Lab / EP Lab Department Description The Invasive Cardiology Department at Mount Auburn Hospital is comprised of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) and the Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab). The department offers comprehensive diagnostic and interventional procedures to our patients. The clinical staff is comprised of a mixture of registered nurses, cardiovascular technologists, and radiologic technologists. The department is comprised of two Cath Labs, one EP Lab, and a six bed holding room for pre- and post-procedure care. Additionally, Cath/EP Lab staff work collaboratively with the cardiac surgery team in the hybrid CVOR to care for patients undergoing TAVR procedure. Your Role: What Youu2019ll Do General Nursing Responsibilities + Provide compassionate, evidenceu2011based nursing care using the nursing process + Deliver direct patient care in the: + Cath Lab + EP Lab + Cath Lab Holding Area + CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) + Perform preu2011procedure assessments and continuous intrau2011procedure monitoring + Monitor vital signs, recognize changes in patient condition, document care, and communicate findings promptly + Initiate nursing interventions under the direction of the attending physician + Safely administer and monitor moderate/conscious sedation per hospital policy and state regulations + Maintain clinical competency in: + Radiation safety principles + Diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures + Specialized interventional equipment and IV infusion pumps + Cardiac monitoring and airway/oxygen support equipment + Collaborate with cardiologists and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized plans of care + Utilize the electronic medical record accurately and efficiently + Coordinate care with departments including Emergency, SICU/MICU, CVOR, Perfusion, Echo, Anesthesia, and PACU + Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork in a fastu2011paced environment + Perform additional duties as assigned Where Youu2019ll Make an Impact Cath Lab Holding Area + Provide preu2011 and postu2011procedure nursing care for Cath Lab and EP Lab patients + Care for patients during: + Cardioversions + TEE/Cardioversion procedures + EP tilt table testing Cardiac Catheterization Lab + Perform advanced nursing duties for Cath Lab patients + Maintain competency in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures + Interpret hemodynamic data + Function in required procedure room roles: + Sedation + Circulating + Scrubbing + Monitoring + Participate in a rotating onu2011call schedule + Onu2011call response time: 30 minutes or less + Maintain resuscitation and emergency response competencies + Provide care for patients with mechanical circulatory support devices: + IABP + Impella + ECMO Electrophysiology (EP) Lab + Perform advanced nursing duties for EP patients + Maintain competency in: + Diagnostic and interventional EP procedures + Cardiac pacing, defibrillation, mapping, and ablation + Serve in procedural roles as needed: + Circulating nurse + Sedation nurse + Scrub nurse + Maintain a safe electrical environment for patients and staff + Interpret intracardiac and surface EKGs to identify arrhythmias + Set up and operate ablation generator systems Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) + Provide advanced nursing care for structural heart procedures , including: + TAVR + TMVR + PFO closure + LAAC + Crossu2011train in procedural roles: + Monitor + Circulator + Scrub + Collaborate closely with CVOR and Perfusion teams to ensure seamless continuity of care What Youu2019ll Bring Required Qualifications + Graduate of an accredited school of nursing + Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts + Current BLS and ACLS certifications + 2u20133 years of Critical Care or procedural RN experience + Demonstrated competency in: + Moderate sedation + Hemodynamic monitoring + EKG interpretation Preferred Experience + Cardiac ICU + Cath Lab + EP Lab + Interventional Radiology Pay & Benefits Hourly Pay Range: $37.00 u2013 $95.37 The listed range represents the expected base hourly wage. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, certifications, and role responsibilities. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, onu2011call pay, overtime, and premium pay in accordance with applicable laws.
