Quality Engineer II

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.We are seeking an experienced, Supplier Quality Engineer with an electronics background to drive product quality with the supply chain across the entire lifecycle — from new product introduction (NPI) through sustaining production — while ensuring AS9100 compliance, robust quality systems, and continuous improvement., DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop new suppliers to ensure product and flow-down compliance with GA-ASI and customer requirements. Identify and drive supplier and product improvements based on supplier performance and product compliance metrics. Conduct comprehensive supplier audits and on-site inspections to evaluate manufacturing processes and adherence to quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100). Perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, and fishbone diagrams to identify and address quality problems effectively. Identify and implement design or manufacturing changes to enhance quality, producibility, and cost efficiency. Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement projects to improve yield and reduce nonconformance. Support and approve First Article Inspections (FAIs). Perform on-site or virtual product verification activities (Source Inspection) to ensure product compliance prior to shipment. Provide technical support to receiving inspection personnel with the resolution of confirmed and suspected quality nonconformances.
