Procurement Specialist

Description We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Defiance, Missouri. In this role, you will oversee the sourcing and acquisition of plant materials for residential and commercial landscaping projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency. This position requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Collaborate with project managers and inventory teams to evaluate project specifications, including plant lists and delivery schedules. u2022 Verify plant requirements for each project based on client needs and design specifications. u2022 Coordinate with inventory managers to assess stock levels, identify shortages, and prevent duplicate orders. u2022 Establish and maintain relationships with a network of vendors to source plant materials efficiently. u2022 Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and timelines to secure quality products at competitive rates. u2022 Conduct thorough market research to locate rare plant materials and expand the vendor database. u2022 Track and manage plant orders, ensuring shipments are expedited when necessary to meet project deadlines. u2022 Maintain clear and accurate records of procurement activities, including vendor communications and inventory updates. u2022 Support procurement operations for both large-scale residential projects and commercial contracts. u2022 Proactively address and resolve sourcing or delivery issues to avoid project delays. Requirements u2022 Previous experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally in landscaping, nursery, or construction materials. u2022 Familiarity with plant species, availability, and seasonality is preferred but not mandatory. u2022 Strong skills in vendor negotiation, management, and market research. u2022 Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. u2022 Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. u2022 Demonstrated problem-solving skills in sourcing and logistics. u2022 Knowledge of corporate procurement processes, purchase orders, and contract negotiations. u2022 Ability to work independently while ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders.
