Job Title: Technical Operations Engineer IJob Description The Data Center Technical Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mission-critical data center infrastructure. This role supports daily operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical and mechanical systems while minimizing risk and downtime. The engineer leads on-site technical staff and coordinates with vendors to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to incidents, and maintain operational excellence. This role partners closely with IT and business stakeholders to support capacity planning, infrastructure reliability, and facility performance. Key systems include electrical distribution, backup power generation, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), cooling and HVAC systems, and building monitoring platforms. The role may also support new facility builds, expansion projects, and efficiency initiatives. Responsibilities + Operate and maintain mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, and CRAC/CRAH units. + Execute and oversee scheduled maintenance, emergency responses, and root-cause analysis for infrastructure incidents. + Lead on-site technicians and coordinate daily operational activities in a 24/7 environment. + Ensure compliance with risk mitigation, safety procedures, and compliance standards for critical infrastructure environments. Essential Skills + Hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance of technical systems. + Experience leading on-site technicians and coordinating shift management. + Knowledge of risk management and safety compliance in critical infrastructure. + Bacheloru2019s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent technical/trade school or military training. + 0u20132 years of experience in data center operations, facilities engineering, or critical infrastructure. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Familiarity with CMMS, BMS, or DCIM tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with vendor and contractor management. + Exposure to capacity planning and efficiency optimization initiatives. + Participation in data center build or expansion projects. + Basic networking and low-voltage infrastructure knowledge, including network layout, copper/fiber cabling, and structured cabling environments. Work Environment This is an on-site, operations-focused role within a 24/7 critical environment, with work performed in shifts including potential nights, weekends, or on-call rotations. The work environment is highly collaborative, with close coordination across facilities, IT, and vendors, emphasizing safety, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement. The schedule follows a 4-day work week with potential weekend shifts. This role offers hands-on exposure to complex, mission-critical infrastructure, providing opportunities for technical experience and leadership development. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Boardman, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
