Apprentice/Intern - QA Engineer

Job Description: This position supports a department or business function by performing assigned tasks and assisting with projects, providing the intern with handsu2011on exposure and a foundational understanding of the business and technical environment. The intern will learn how to deploy, support, maintain, and troubleshoot computers and other devices while gaining experience within a defined technical support specialty area. This role is designed to provide exposure to a subset of the knowledge required in the broader support function and serves as a learning opportunity rather than a fully autonomous position. The incumbent will require additional guidance, training, and supervision to build proficiency. Work is overseen by more senior technical contributors, including Associate, Staff, Senior, and Consultantu2011level professionals, who provide direction, mentorship, and technical support. Essential Functions + Under the direction of team members, the intern learns to resolve minor computer and technical issues. + Accurately documents issue details and resolutions in the ITIL ticketing system. + Provides regular updates to support staff regarding the status of projects, incidents, and service requests. + Responds to messages and requests according to established priority and response schedules. + Learns to support new and existing systems while staying current with relevant technology changes. + Assists with the implementation of enterpriseu2011defined hardware and software security policies. + Works collaboratively with team members to identify solutions and complete tasks that support individual and team goals. + Gains knowledge of the departmentu2019s and facilityu2019s functions and operations. + Participates in a variety of projects that support departmental or facility needs. + Performs other duties as assigned. Skills + Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer hardware, including PCs, monitors, keyboards, and peripheral devices. + Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear, useru2011friendly manner. + Selfu2011motivated with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fastu2011paced or highu2011pressure environment. + Strong customer service orientation with a high attention to detail. Required Qualifications + High School Diploma or equivalent required. + Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a professional, respectful, and customeru2011focused manner. Preferred Qualifications + Students pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. + Strong research, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to assist or educate users. + Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, email, and scheduling applications. + Experience in roles requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Physical Requirements + Supports the weight of IT equipment while transporting it and is able to push or pull portable equipment, including heavy items. + Ascends and descends stairs or ladders as needed to service IT equipment. + Moves on hands and knees when required and lowers the body by bending at the hips and knees or by placing body weight on one or both knees. + Transports oneself from place to place to perform job duties.
