The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical and academic service, including the teaching and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students. A proven track record of research achievement, collaborative leadership, academic excellence, and community engagement is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have an established national/international reputation and demonstrated ability to implement a strategic vision through innovation, collaboration, and accountability. The ideal candidate will hold an MD or equivalent degree, be board-certified in Radiation Oncology, and possess credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. They should also exhibit a deep commitment to academic innovation and possess the leadership skills necessary to guide faculty development and advancement across clinical, research, and educational missions. As a department leader, the Chairperson will provide an energetic and inventive vision for growing clinical volume, improving clinical productivity, and further defining clinical expertise within the academic framework. In addition, the Chairperson will play a key role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to advance clinical care and promote the growth of research initiatives. The Department of Radiation Oncology at Rush University Medical Center delivers comprehensive radiation therapy services across four locations u2014 RUMC, ROPH, Lisle, and RCMC u2014 working in close collaboration with oncology and surgical oncology teams to provide patients with integrated, total cancer care. The department offers a full spectrum of advanced treatment modalities, including brachytherapy, and a robust suite of external beam radiation therapies such as IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, stereotactic radiosurgery, and total body irradiation, among others. All Rush radiation oncology locations hold national accreditation from either the American College of Radiology or APEx, and the department benefits from its distinguished partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center u2014 a key competitive differentiator u2014 as well as Rush's recognition as a top-ranked hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. With the continued growth of the Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center at Lisle, the department is well-positioned to expand its footprint and capture greater market share in the western region, even as it navigates competitive pressures from other academic centers and works to strengthen its presence in lung, breast, gynecological, and prostate cancer services.
