The Administrative Manager for Perioperative Services is a professional with primary responsibility for educational programs for Perioperative Services. Patient care and services are carried out in collaboration with Service Line Coordinators, Ancillary manager, hospital administration and the medical staff and in compliance with organizational goals and appropriate regulatory agency requirements. Manages daily operations of assigned units; promotes a positive and professional environment; holds supervisory responsibilities; maintains adequate and productive staffing; collaborates with staff to meet or exceed quality and patient safety goals through shared governance. Essential Duties: + Leader u2022 Seek opportunities to develop staff in various roles u2022 Oversee and actively participate in hiring and training of all staff. u2022 Establishes departmental goals and priorities. u2022 Assesses performance and provides feedback. u2022 Counsels or disciplines as needed. u2022 Integrates ethical principles in all aspects of practice u2022 Serves as a role model for education and professional nursing practice u2022 Role models and promotes the concept of life long learning u2022 Leads committees, work groups and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities Promotes excellence and safety u2022 Facilitates orientation of new staff to the organization u2022 Facilitates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation u2022 Ensures the development of evidence-based educational materials u2022 Promotes a safe and healthy work environment u2022 Responds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs to support those changes u2022 Ensures that educational programs are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals u2022 Interprets and communicates across multiple disciplines u2022 Responsible for formulating program outcomes and designing curricula that reflect contemporary health care trends u2022 Establishes system(s) for learning events to ensure that they meet the established goals and objectives. u2022 Uses available education resources (Subject Matter Experts, Regional Education Managers, approved standardized education, developed tools and templates) to develop and deliver education efficiently. u2022 Establishes and maintains performance improvement and quality control activities which support the department and hospital. u2022 Participates in planning of operational budget and goal setting for the nursing department and for own unit of responsibility. u2022 Capital equipment needs are identified with accurate preparation of evaluation scales and CER forms. + Consultant u2022 Serves as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development u2022 Responses to regulatory mandates for research and management of sentinel events u2022 Responds to identified needs of Keck Medicine to promote quality patient care and safety u2022 Collaborates with interprofessional team to recommend educational strategies for the implementation clinical standards, regulatory standards, quality patient care and safety initiatives u2022 Supports staff development with educational activities (which includes certification, mentoring, life support, product rollouts) u2022 Supports staff competency with educational activities including the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and remediation. + Educator u2022 Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats. u2022 Adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate learner needs u2022 Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development u2022 Consults with staff regarding individual learning needs u2022 Develops core education to address population specific nursing care u2022 Develops core education for the development of nursing leaders (formal and informal) u2022 Assists learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes u2022 Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs u2022 Develops/coordinates core education to address patient population specific nursing care u2022 Develops/coordinates core education for the development of beside leaders u2022 Plans, prepares and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience u2022 Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats u2022 Adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate learner needs u2022 Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development u2022 Delivers competence based programs for nursing staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge u2022 Develops evidence-based educational materials u2022 Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming u2022 Prepares short and long term planning and programs to address identified needs u2022 Facilitates orientation of new staff to the organization u2022 Facilitates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation u2022 Ensures the development of evidence-based educational materials u2022 Facilitates the adult learning process, creating a climate which supports learning across the health system. + Researcher u2022 Supports the integration of research into practice u2022 Provides information to document effectiveness of role as a staff development educator u2022 Incorporates current educational evidence into individual practice as a staff development expert. u2022 Conducts and/or contributes to nursing research u2022 Interprets, communicates, and incorporates research findings into program planning Required Qualifications: + Req Bachelor's degree Nursing Graduate of a state approved school of Registered Nursing. + Req 2 years In management or nursing leadership position in the perioperative area. + Req 4 years Experience as an OR RN + Req Strong critical and strategic thinking, analytical and planning skills. + Req Organization/time management skills. + Req Excellent Preferred Qualifications: + Pref Master's degree Nursing Masteru2019s Degree in Nursing or related field, or in progress, strongly preferred Masteru2019s Degree in Nursing may be in lieu-of Bacheloru2019s Degree in Nursing Required Licenses/Certifications: + Req Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing) + Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association + Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) + Req Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) + Req Certified Perioperative Registered Nurse - CNOR (AORN) The annual base salary range for this position is $133,120.00 - $219,648.00.
