General information Date Wednesday, April 1, 2026 City Washington State DC Country United States Working time Full-time Description & Requirements Maximus is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) & Operations Lead to serve as the primary onsite technical lead supporting Maximus operations at the Department of Energy (DOE). This role ensures stability, performance, and continuous improvement across production systems and applications. The SRE & Operations Lead partners closely with engineering teams, project leads, and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, manage deployments, monitor system health, and maintain reliable operating environments. This position requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to communicate clearly across technical and nontechnical audiences. This role is onsite, five days a week in Washington, DC, and requires a Top Secret or DOE-Q security clearance. Maximus TCS (Technology and Consulting Services) Internal Job Profile Code: TCS087, T3, Band 6 Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Production Support: Lead triage, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues, providing actionable technical insights to development teams. Serve as the primary onsite responder for system incidents, outages, and performance degradations. - Application & Infrastructure Monitoring: Evaluate system, server, and platform health; track performance trends, proactively identify risks and service disruptions. - Platform Administration: Perform platform upgrades & patches. - Deployments & Configuration Management: Execute Appian and full stack application deployments, ensuring proper configuration, version control, and release quality. - Representation: Serve as the on-site Maximus representative to a variety of IT forums. Job-Specific Minimum Requirements: - Minimum Years of Experience: 4 years (additional experience strongly desired). - Location: Department of Energy client site in Washington, D.C. (Forrestal Building). - Minimum Education Required: Bacheloru2019s degree in information technology or related field. - Security Clearance Required: Top Secret or DOE Q. - Experience in IT operations, site reliability engineering, or infrastructure management. - Hands on experience with application deployments and operations support. - Development experience in Java, .NET, Go, Python or the low code Appian platform. - Intermediate understanding of SQL, including developing and optimizing queries. - Basic understanding of Linux administration. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and non technical teams across multiple security domains, including secure and non-secure networks. Preferred Skills and Qualifications: - Appian platform administration experience. - Strong understanding of monitoring tools, operational dashboards, and performance analysis. - Experience with technologies including CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, TypeScript, or jQuery. - Java debugging skills, including log analysis, exception tracing, and root cause investigation. - Familiarity with backend and middleware technologies: SQL/NoSQL databases, web/app servers, ESBs, and identity/access control integrations. #techjobs #clearance #veteransPage Minimum Requirements TCS087, T3, Band 6 EEO Statement Maximus is an equal opportunity employer.
