Passionatefor radiation safety and opportunity to recommend and help implementimprovements that promote staff and patient safety. The work this personwill do directly impacts the operations of the program. Strong criticalthinking skills and self-motivation (enjoys working independently whilestill collaborating with a larger team). Continuing educationopportunities Job Summary: The Radiation Safety Specialist collaborateswith the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and fellow radiation safetystaff to ensure strict compliance with regulatory guidelines, such asthose set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS).This role is instrumental in maintaining a safe environment within thehealthcare or research facility concerning the use of radioactivematerials and ionizing radiation sources. Responsibilities includeconducting compliance assessments, managing documentation, facilitatingtraining, overseeing radiation monitoring programs, assisting withequipment management, and supporting incident investigations, all whilepromoting a culture of safety and adherence to best practices.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of 3 years of clinical or technicalexperience in medical radiation safety, physics, or nuclear medicinetechnology is required. Experience with radiation dose management,image quality, and radiation safety is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:Bachelor's degree in Physical Science, Medical Physics, NuclearMedicine Technology, Engineering, Biological Science, or a related fieldis required. Academic curriculum must include specific courseworkrelated to radiation safety, or equivalent knowledge must bedemonstrated through experience and continuing education. SPECIAL SKILLSDESCRIPTION: Knowledge of regulations regarding radiation safety formedical applications. Excellent project management skills and greatattention to detail. Strong analytical skills and critical thinkingability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strongknowledge of Excel and basic knowledge of related applications.
