State of Idaho Opportunity Chief Investigator, Criminal Law Division, OAG Closing Date: Open until filled. Start Date: To be determined upon hire. Salary: $123,000.00 Primary Duties: The Chief Investigator is the senior sworn law enforcement officer in the Idaho Office of the Attorney General (OAG), with supervisory authority over all sworn investigators and law enforcement support personnel across the OAG's investigative units. These units include the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, the Special Investigations Unit (SPU), and the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). The OAG acts as the lead agency of the Idaho ICAC Task Force. The task force commands a majority of both the Chief Investigator's time and the OAG's investigative resources. The Chief Investigator works alongside the ICAC Commander to support task force operations, ensure grant compliance, and coordinate with partner agencies on ICAC investigations. Beyond supervisory responsibilities, the Chief Investigator is expected to carry an active caseload. This position primarily works with ICAC cases but may also be assigned to act as the lead investigator on high-profile or complex investigations across the division. Additional responsibilities include personnel management, overseeing compliance with Idaho POST certification standards, law enforcement training, and equipment oversight. The position also involves regular public speaking and educational presentations, and requires frequent travel with little or no advance notice. Hazardous Duty Statement: This position requires viewing and analyzing digital content showing the sexual exploitation of children, including graphic and disturbing images and video of children being raped, tortured, and abused. The employee must be able to manage the psychological and emotional impact of repeated exposure to such material as an essential part of the job. The OAG requires all its employees routinely exposed to such content to meet with a mental health professional on a semi-annual basis. Minimum Qualifications: + Must be a sworn law enforcement officer currently holding an Idaho POST Advanced Certification or higher. + Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including experience in Idaho and some supervisor or command-level experience. + Experience working with ICAC cases, including familiarity with NCMEC CyberTips. + Must successfully complete a background investigation including fingerprinting, polygraph, and psychological evaluation to the satisfaction of the OAG. + Must pass and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) access and background check. + Must be physically capable of performing all traditional law enforcement functions. + Must qualify with a firearm and re-qualify as required by the OAG. + Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license and be able to travel frequently, including with little or no advance notice. Preferred Qualifications: + A Bachelor's degree or higher in any field. + Experience managing multi-agency task forces or statewide law enforcement programs. + Completion of formal leadership training. + Experience working with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in a multi-agency investigative environment. + Experience in public speaking, community outreach, or educational presentations in a law enforcement context.
