Job Title: Oxygen Systems EngineerJob Description The position involves providing mechanical engineering and test support for Liquid and Gaseous Oxygen systems in support of aerospace propulsion and test operations. Responsibilities + Plan and execute aerospace ground test projects, ensuring facility capabilities align with test requirements. + Lead or support test projects, including managing schedules, resources, and overall execution. + Design and support mechanical test systems and hardware, including cryogenic and oxygen systems. + Oversee the fabrication, installation, calibration, and maintenance of test hardware. + Determine which parts require recertification or inspection due to obsolescence or contamination. + Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and test teams. + Analyze test data, conduct experiments, and generate technical reports. + Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and purchase requisitions. + Support safety and design reviews and provide technical presentations. Essential Skills + Experience with liquid or gaseous oxygen (LOX/GOX) systems. + Knowledge of aerospace test facilities, mechanical systems, fluids, pneumatics, hydraulics, and data acquisition. + 3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar Engineering field. + Experience with propulsion, vacuum, or cryogenic testing is preferred. + Direct knowledge of aerospace test facilities, such as wind tunnels, thermal vacuum facilities, propulsion test stands, and vibration testing. Work Environment The role is based at the Glenn Research Center's Armstrong Test Facility, a sprawling 400-acre campus with various specialized buildings. The position involves frequent work in the In-Space Propulsion (ISP) Facility, home to the world's largest vacuum chamber designed for testing full-scale rocket engines and spacecraft. This facility simulates high-altitude space environments to test upper-stage engines, Mars lander prototypes, and propulsion systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Sandusky, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
